Calling all artists in and around Berwick! We are delighted to hold our first Open Call exhibition and would like to invite artists in and around Berwick to showcase their art in this wonderful space. Full entry guidelines will be released early next week when applications open, however here are some of the key requirements: * We invite wall mounted art and sculpture * Submissions will be online only * Artists can submit up to three pieces * There is no submission fee * There is a hanging fee for selected works (ranging from £8 - £15 based on size of artwork) * All artists must sign up to the stewarding rota for a morning or afternoon session (2hrs) * Work can be for sale Please get involved! We have successfully launched this new exhibition space and now we want to get our local artist community filling the walls! Watch this space for more information! What’s behind that door? That was half the fun of Berwick Open Studios. Over two weekends, artists across the town opened up their studios, homes and gardens, giving us a glimpse into the places where creativity actually happens. There was brilliant work everywhere, but judging by what we heard all weekend, everyone also rather enjoyed the chance to have a good nosey behind usually closed doors. Turns out, we all rather like being invited into places we’d never normally get to wander into. We were there photographing the event and capturing all the fun, with Sarah and me covering the first weekend, and Stella stepping in to help Sarah on the second. Such a great couple of weekends, and the town had a real buzz about it. Follow Berwick Open Studios and keep an eye on their page for the final photographs.

Come and see what in-real-life art club and life drawing was like. This weekend we joined in for @berwickopenstudios,and @pithsupply kindly let us use this gorgeous studio space. LOOOOK at it 😍 🤤 Thank you to everyone who came along! Thank you to Celia our brilliant life model! Thank you thank you! We did have grand plans of writing everyone’s IG handles down and tagging everyone but Katie lost the piece of paper so please do tag yourself if you see yourself in a photo. 📢 Don't miss the LAST day of the FIRST ever @berwickopenstudios 📢 Start your visit at the @old_brewery_studios (door access front and back of the building - use either and follow the building through searching for artists along the way then pop over the road to see @pigwidgeon007 and her amazing artwork based on female icons (over 200 so far and counting....!!), then head down to @dockside_gallery for a feast of art based on local scenes before heading across the bridge for yet more fantastic art. Most importantly, look out for the feedback form on QR posts dotted around the trail. If you want Berwick Open Studios to run again next year, then we need lots of positive feedback! I know I keep banging on about Berwick, but here I go again! We went up to Berwick today for a wander around the open studios (on again tomorrow if you fancy it) . Saw some new spaces and some good art. Highlights: visiting some of my favourite shops : jennies woolshop; tidekettle paper; slightly foxed books; Whistlebare studio; the Green shop, some of which were part of open studios; really loved the textile art work of Catherine Gowthorpe and Jo Thomas and some fabulous landscapes by Sarah Curtis and Linda Calvert; got to see the brand new gallery space in Tweedmouth at The Old Brewery Artist Studios and did you know some of the best sketchbooks money can buy are made in Spittal by Pith? I really enjoyed a sneaky peek in their workshop (We treated you to a new one @amyhastingstextiles !) A quick drive along the Holy Island Causeway and I now feel inspired to crack out the paints and have a go at some causeway landscapes !

This weekend is the second weekend of the very first Berwick Open Studios. Celebrating the many selling galleries, studios & talented artists & makers. Last weekend was absolutely wonderful, with such a buzz around town, & this weekend they're doing it all again! Each sends five identical prints, receives four by other makers, and leaves one in Berwick for the exhibition. Professionals and hobbyists, sharing the same walls. Really looking forward to Friday Night’s preview @27_art_house_ hosted by @amyizat_art where Ill be exhibiting new work alongside the beautiful creations of @judithdaviesceramics The preview starts at 6:30pm and you don’t need an invitation to attend. Come and meet me, Judith and Amy and see what we have been rustling up in our studio’s this past few months. 25% of sales of my work on preview night only will be donated to @berwickcancercars so theres a little added incentive to making that purchase on the opening night.
