30 LOCATIONS to find a crab! If you’re looking for an in person crab bag, I got news for you. HUGE THANKS TO @lootdropartclub and @best.vends crabs are crawling up the entire south east. I’m hoping we can cross the mason/dixon by November. NC, VA, DC and FL.

Yes you can sit with us. Yes you can carry crabs in your machines. 👍 I’m just a bit slow bc I don’t have opposable thumbs.

As we close out March and reflect on Women’s History Month, we are proud to highlight two incredible women making a meaningful impact across our region 💛

We are honored to recognize Sarah White, Celebrate Fairfax’s Ambassador of the Year, whose leadership and vision continue to inspire. We would also like to spotlight the new strides she is taking as she transforms Westover Taco into the area’s first women’s sports bar, creating a space that uplifts and celebrates women in sports.

We are also proud to highlight K Scarry and the impactful work she is doing to bring creativity and connection to our community. K Scarry is a lifelong Fairfax County resident who loves any creative initiative to bring the community together. You can find her operating Kbird bar in Studio Theatre in DC, or running vending machines stocked with local arts (or books at local schools!) as her day job, or playing with her pups, journaling, and enjoying her porch swing in the sunshine on days off.

Thank you both for the ways you strengthen, inspire, and bring our community together.

There’s a seriously cool new addition to downtown Leesburg! @best.vends has a local art + goodies vending machine inside @craft.leesburg and it’s just as fun as it is creative.⁣

🖌️ I first saw it getting painted by @artbykimpkim (with help from the community during a First Friday!) and finally saw the finished masterpiece at the Flower & Garden Festival.⁣

Inside, you’ll find mini treasures: art, stickers, pins, and more from local makers. 🎁 So it’s not just a vending machine—it’s a tiny gallery-meets-gift-shop!⁣

Next week is another First Friday in downtown Leesburg and we have tons of fun planned! We are so thrilled to partner with @best.vends to bring an art vending machine to the shop (yes, a vending machine that features products from local artists and artisans!!!) and shop friend/exceedingly talented artist @artbykimpkim will be doing a live painting of the machine on our patio! 🎨 Swing by and you just may get to add your own artistic flair to the machine as well 😍 Then at 7pm we have @smallmouthsoundco joining us for another Songwriters and Spellbottles concert and workshop! Sweet tunes from @calveatch @iamokmusic and @anniestokesmusic plus help crafting beautifully bottled intentions for a new season. 🌿

And the next evening Music with Mowgli returns! The first session on April 5 will be for ages 6-12, second session on April 12 will be for little ones 2-6 years old. Have siblings close in age but not sure which you should go to, or maybe an older child with a disability? You know your kids best, choose which age range feels most appropriate to their development! Suggested range is $15-30 per kid, paying what you can for this workshop is encouraged!

Very excited for @gg.empowers to return to the shop for Of Art and Mindfulness! Close your eyes and be transported by Giselle’s calming sound bath, then she will lead us in an abstract art meditation/workshop. What will you create when you let go of your self-judgement and create without fear? When you listen to prompts and paint from them rather than try to plan everything out? Come find out!

And last but not least @artessencebymekhla will be back on Monday, April 14 to teach an acrylic painting class! Learn to paint a floral landscape with Mekhla Salimani, great for ages 8 and up, and experience levels!

Vending machine art in the WILD!

So, while we were shopping in Santa Fe, we ran across an @artomat machine. I was so delighted to see one for the first time in person.

I made Tim demo the purchase for me because I wanted to share this video with you.

Each item was only $5 and you selected from a theme. It was 50/50 between chickens and wild animals for me. Of course, I picked chickens.

Just saying, as an artist that has work in a vending machine (@bestvends), it was really cool to experience the purchase.

Kuddos to my Insta boyfriend, Tim, who usually prefers not to be featured!
