Apotheosis is now public. Big thanks to Richard Backus of Slimmer's for his support of community arts. He not only provided the mural a display location, he gave much needed advice for the installation. #slimmersautomotive #mural #bottlecapmosaic #artplaceamerica #rebuildingeastninthestreet

Hello Michiana! I’m going to be here for a few days with my parents, my dogs, and my friend Hayden, so expect a little more activity than usual.

My art project piece, “Apotheosis,” is coming along nicely. Thank you to everyone who helped me gather the materials this summer! Looking at you, Sprite drinkers.

Melinda Black had the opportunity to #exploreKU at the newly renovated Spencer Museum of Art before it officially reopened last week. This was a particularly special moment for her because she had worked at the museum years ago as a student.
In more recent years, Saturday art classes played a part of her son’s early art education. “The museum is near and dear to my heart,” Black says. “I was very excited to see the changes. I couldn’t help but notice that the new second floor windows are a magnet for people young and old. The view is fabulous, especially as the sun is going down.”
