Belgrade in the past vs now 😍🇷🇸
Looking at these old photographs is a reminder of just how much Belgrade has changed over the past few decades. Some of the images come from another era entirely, while others are surprisingly recent, yet even a relatively short period can make a noticeable difference in a city like this.❤️

Belgrade went through an especially turbulent period during the 1990s, marked by the breakup of Yugoslavia, international sanctions and the NATO bombing of 1999. The political changes that followed have opened a new chapter, and the city gradually began to change with it.😍 New cafés, cultural spaces, renovated streets and large-scale developments have since reshaped parts of the capital, particularly along the Sava waterfront.🌿🏙 And yet, plenty of Belgrade still feels familiar. The old façades, Knez Mihailova, Kalemegdan, the historic streets of Stari Grad and the distinctive architecture scattered across the city continue to connect present-day Belgrade with its past.❤️🏛️
That’s what makes comparing these photographs so interesting. Some things have disappeared, some have been transformed, and others have barely changed at all. The city keeps moving forward, but its past is still visible everywhere if you know where to look. 🇷🇸❤️
