Just learned I’m a New York Times Best Selling Author!

Okay. That’s not *technically* true.

But @kkdumez new book, “Live, Laugh, Love” just became a New York Times best seller and she did quote me in the last chapter, so I’m going to need everybody to let me have the technicality.

What I deeply appreciate about Kristin’s book is that we share the same views on what whiteness has done to, & with help from, our sisters in the faith.

Because the argument I was making then, and still believe, is that we diminish culpability when we call this “brainwashing.”

Brainwashing gives us a villain. Discipleship gives us a system. Forces us to ask what we were taught. What we were rewarded for believing. What we were taught to fear & protect. Who we were taught to BE.

Kristin’s book explores that formation in the history of white Christian women & it makes the conversation between her book & mine vital to hear.

Live, Laugh, Love magnifies how this world was made. Fire in the Whole asks what happens to the people who were wounded by it.

So if you’re reading Kristin’s book right now, thinking, “Oh. So THAT’S how we got here!”, consider adding Fire in the WHOLE to your TBR.

I have a lifetime’s worth of experience anticipating something for a long time and then feeling let down.

This was not that.

My book launch day and launch party were beautiful, joyful, and everything I ever dreamed of. The women in my community rallied and made the most gorgeous spread of food and treats, the most beautiful decor and flowers. And the men came with bells on, supporting and uplifting my voice and my work. And to have it in our beloved neighborhood park that has held so many memories made it that much more meaningful.

We had signature drinks (swipe allll the way to the end) — you could order a Holy Water, or, if you were abstaining, the Holiest of Waters.

A true pinch-me moment from top to bottom. I absolutely cannot believe the loving, supportive community I get to be a part of.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
