If I could go back and tell myself what I know now…

You have no idea who you are about to become.

The version of you that you pray for will require things from you that the current version of you will call unfair.

You’re going to learn that becoming someone new will cost you versions of yourself you once fought hard to protect.

You’re going to realize that some of the things you begged God not to take away were the exact things keeping you from becoming who you asked Him to make you.

And one day, you’ll look back and realize the hardest season of your life didn’t take you from yourself. It introduced you to yourself.

You thought this season was about proving you could achieve something. God was showing you who you had to become so the next chapter wouldn’t crush you.

The girl I was 3 years ago wouldn’t even recognize me, but everything I am now is because she got up. She didn’t have proof that any of it was going to work. She didn’t know where to go or what to do, but she had a choice to make. Either stay stagnant and feel bad for herself or get up and not look back. Thank gosh she got up.

I think sometimes we forget that the version of you that you’re working so hard to become is being built in the days that feel the least significant. If you’re in a season where it feels like you’re putting in a whole lot of work without much to show for it yet, keep going.

Three years from now, you might look back at the person you are today and realize they are the one who changed your entire life just by getting up one more time…
