9/10/25 - The greatest before and after picture ever. In less than 28 mins a life changed forever and heaven rejoiced. Praise God that Chip has decided to follow Jesus as his Lord and Savior!

Last Wednesday I was out of sorts. I was really impacted by the news of Charlie Kirk. So much so that I thought I was late to church when instead we were 45 minutes early. So Chip and I got dinner together at church. Chip asked to pray at the prayer wall before class as he almost always does. He prayed for others and thanked God for Jesus’ sacrifice. (He has been very enamored with Jesus’ death since the Shroud of Turin exhibit visited our church). After class our walk to the truck was longer way than normal due to construction which forced us to walk by the Jesus statue. As we walked by Chip jumped up beside Jesus and said “Dad take a picture of me with Jesus”, not thinking much of it I asked why. Chip said “because I want to know Jesus”. I don’t know what I expected, maybe because I love him, or to send it to mom, but not that. How awesome is it to hear a child share their desire to know our savior. It was so clearly an opportunity to talk about what it means to know and follow Jesus. So we sat and talked about what Chip believed and why.

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. God so loved the world that he gave his begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. That Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father except through him. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and you will be saved. That to follow Christ is to be a slave and servant to Jesus, to pick up your cross daily, no turning back.

Chip confirmed his understanding of each point and shared the gospel back to me with all the innocence of a 6 year old. We prayed, he confessed, he believed, and praise God that Chip was born again.

He is so bright and curious but now so on fire telling others about his decision and upcoming baptism. Thank you Jesus. Praying for God to use Chip to help make heaven crowded.
