Speak from the gut, but bring responsibility to the craft.

We’re training ourselves to become faster. The more you watch behaviour, repeat, listen and accumulate experience, the more your instrument begins to recognise without having to intellectually work everything out first.

We want that freedom. But freedom doesn’t mean irresponsibility.

In some ways we’re trying to recover the emotional freedom and playfulness of a child while retaining the responsibility and wisdom of an adult.

Our characters can be selfish, unreasonable, biased, contradictory, childish, loving, cruel or absolutely convinced that they’re right. That’s their job.

Our job is to become free enough to play them while remaining responsible for ourselves, our partner and the room.

Freedom and responsibility are not opposites. We need both.

You don’t need to do this alone!

Actors, it’s a tough industry out there filled with wild highs and wild lows.

While we tend to be a group of humans who thrive working in a company. We often find ourselves spending most of the time hustling individually. The endless emails, submissions, show reels, self tapes, rejection, networking…..

You don’t need to do it alone.

Join our tribe for a community of like minded, hustling actors, focused on developing their craft and their careers together.

Check out www.bodymindvoice.co.uk to book your £5 observer spot to see for yourself.

The independent activity is a fundamental exercise and one of the great jewels in the crown of the Meisner approach to actor training.

To the naked eye it might seem a bit ridiculous to see someone crying their eyes out over a rubik’s cube or a house of cards. But an actor’s ability to do so convincingly shows the fruit of training in acting as a high stakes engagement in the reality of doing.

If they can make a rubrik’s cube a life and death situation imagine what they can do with defusing a bomb or saving another character’s life.
