The Burnsville Rotary Club provides grants to dozens of local charitable organizations that strengthen the community, including nonprofits that support youth. Twin Cities Catalyst Music provides "young people with equitable access to see, experience, and participate in the Twin Cities music community."

This week, we were fortunate to have Catalyst Music Executive Director Beth Mammenga as our guest at our Monday meeting. She gave us an update on all the good happening at Catalyst Music's @thegaragemn facility in Burnsville. From concert performances to studio recording, young Twin Cities musicians build skills that last a lifetime!

It’s hard to put into words how powerful this past week in Washington DC has been for #NIVA23. I think what resonates most with me, six months into my work as leader of the National Independent Venue Foundation is also something I heard from other first time conference attendees – how welcoming everyone was, how much energy there was in those rooms, how cathartic it was to be with people, and how affirming it was to build common cause. Also, DC’s got great venues to see shows.

I feel like I have spent the past six months at NIVF getting grounded, lining up programming and ideas, and building connections. This past week is the rocket fuel to get it all going, and a profound reminder of why what we do is important, and that we are doing this work together.

Now, we sleep. Next, we get to the show and carry on the work.
