I used to go more neutral for our family photos because it’s easier to coordinate outfits and you can easily work with things you already own. But if you put in a little effort, bold colors and patterns can feel cohesive and intentional, with so much added energy and visual interest! 💥 And it just feels right with little kids. ☺️

One last bonus tip: if you get pieces from one clothes collection, the colors will most likely work well together! For this shoot, the tops for the older three boys were purchased at the same time from @_bobochoses_ (the cutest collection!).

Your venue is the backdrop to your entire wedding day. It’s important that it:

🌼 Photographs well (lighting is everything)
🌼 Matches the vibe you are wanting (are you wanting lush greenery in your photos or a white neutral backdrop? We have both 😉)
🌼 Has great indoor backup options if the weather is tricky

I hosted my first “Friends Farmers Market” this morning and my heart couldn’t be more full. I loved every second of it. I can’t wait to host another in the fall!

Baby shower #5 called for brunch with zero cooking and prep for my girlfriends, who have spoiled me with some beautiful showers over the years! (Except @lenamanchik still brought a few little floral arrangements for the tables because how could she not?!) I haven’t had a birthday party for over a decade but I love celebrating my pregnancies!

After brunch, a handful of us walked around U Village and shopped for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon… a true luxury for someone who only shops online these days and doesn’t remember what it’s like to shop with company that’s not tired kids! So lucky to have so many good girlfriends to celebrate this life with.

The new @delillecellars restaurant at U Village was the perfect setting. 👌🏼

I love these moments captured by @bethssolano …the cutest welcome table I’ve seen, the reception space on the @mv_skansonia , the bridal party getting ready & adding a personal touch & keepsake to the bridal bouquet, moments before walking the aisle, and a newlywed kiss… this day was so special, so magical & so memorable. 🤍

Notepad sketches turned to real life magical moments .✨
My drawing may be rudimentary, but I think it’s the best way for me to get an idea across, at least in terms of size, scale, shape & overall proportion. For this event, the client sourced their own chuppa structure. We weren’t sure if we’d need base weights if it were a windier day, or not, so I added greenery & light floral to cover those mechanics in the drawing. We ended up not needing them, so as previously discussed, we added fuller floral at the top four corners inside & out instead. I appreciate the trust my client afforded me to decide on site what would work best. The couple wanted small aisle arrangements that could be repurposed to the dessert table & bar, so we added those as well.
I’ve seen a lot of fancy software mockups with specific colors & flower types in hopes of translating what a final product will look like. Though I of course can see the value, in my opinion these can either limit a florist in terms of materials to work with (what flowers are coming in off the farms that week for example, that may be different varietals than what’s featured in the mock up), or worse, lead to disappointment if the reality doesn’t match exactly in terms of color palette, design, etc. (I recently saw a mock up from another florist, whom I adore, that I actually liked much better than their final product.) I always want to wow my client, and my absolute favorite words are “I never even knew I wanted this!” I love giving as much detail & description as possible when writing up proposals, to communicate as clearly as I can what I am envisioning, to ensure it matches with what my client is dreaming up, but I also want to stay flexible, and make sure the color palette & overall design is spot on. If I see unique flora offered from local farms that fit the best with the aesthetic & style, I’m going to go that direction. My aim is always to go above and beyond, and sometimes I pinch myself that my job description is ‘to make dreams come true’. ✨
