The journey I am on - that I believe many of us are on - is about learning to stay here, fully and wildly and tenderly, not without but alongside the aches of being human.

Here’s PLAYING HOUSE — our dark, funny, role-playing fever dream of a short film. Two leads. One location. A conversation unfolding in real time, ending with a twist.
For our main characters, Jess and Mark, getting to “play house” again sounds nostalgic, comforting, even fun. But as they sink deeper into their roles, they discover they’ve finally outgrown the game.

We were all excited to create a film that took the signature aspects of a play and, through careful blocking, intentional lighting, plush production design, and a variety of sweeping shots with some adventurous angles, make something purely cinematic.

Every so often I'm convinced I tell the
world too much. Hold my heart on my
sleeve, cough out my secrets, confess to
my pain. I swear to myself I won't do it
again. I'll be all lock key, a porch with
screens, elusive and safe. Then I talk with
a friend who's all heart, all summer, and
June -raw and flawed but so complete and
I'm reminded of how flowers thrive when
they're open to it all. To the rain and sun,
to the footsteps and weeds, to the changing of
seasons over again. And when someone's
looking for a sign of hope, there they are.
Blooming despite it all.

-Hannah Rosenberg, "June" from Same

#portra400 California florals that were meant for a roll of doubles but I forgot to leave the leader out so now they are here to remind me of June and flourishing 🌹
