The Bengal Files // Dir: Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri

We, the Forgotten People.

This film is a slap of truth. In 1947 we were helpless. Today, in 2025, we are still helpless. We have rights only on paper but no power to use them.

It exposes how every generation of Indians has lived the same betrayal. Delhi decides. We suffer. They sit in rooms, sign papers, and it’s our homes that burn, our families that die. Leaders survive. People don’t. Partition & Direct Action Day, the film shows it not as history, but as a template of how the system still works. Citizens are not protected, just exploited. We are puppets, our lives are reduced to footnotes.

The most brutal truth? From 1947 till now, NOTHING has changed. The law is an illusion. Justice is theatre. Rights are a cruel joke and the film never gives closure because there is none. It shoves us back to reality. This film is not here to give you any comfort. The film is not just about only Bengal, it is about India.

The film’s raw, natural dialogues feel like the honest voices of people caught in a storm of lies and division that never really ended. It shows how deeply fragmented we are, and how helpless we’ve been through it all. The screenplay weaves together harsh history and personal pain without pretending things get better. it’s real and unfiltered. The direction doesn’t look for heroes or easy answers. it holds up a mirror to the cold truth of a system that keeps letting its people down. Every character’s loss hits you in the heart, reminding us of the invisible, ongoing struggle of ordinary people.

The film’s camera doesn’t just capture horror.It pulls you in, forcing you to witness the pain of people torn apart by violence caused by the system.Every scene is shot with purpose, bringing to life the harsh reality written on the script. It’s not some distant story or a clean, easy picture. it’s a raw, immersive experience that drops you into a world that’s painful, unforgiving, and heartbreakingly real.

We are the fourth lion, the hidden one on the emblem. We, the People.

Invisible. Silenced. Forgotten.

Not just a film. A reminder of our claustrophobic truth.
