🧠 WHAT IF WE’VE BEEN ASKING CHILDREN THE WRONG QUESTION? “What do you want to be when you grow up?” We expect an occupation. But what if the most important answers are happy, healthy, loving, kind and adventurous? ❤️ Neuroscience helps explain why this matters. 🧠 Neuroplasticity: Repeated experiences, expectations and feedback help shape a child’s developing self-concept — their understanding of who they are and what matters. 🎯 Prefrontal Cortex: Supports planning, decision-making and the development of goal-directed behaviour. Success should involve more than achievement alone. 💫 Dopamine & Reward Circuits: Influence motivation, curiosity and learning. What we repeatedly celebrate can help shape the goals children pursue. ❤️ Emotional Regulation & Social Connection: Safe relationships, belonging and supportive environments help developing brains manage stress and build resilience. The message is powerful: A career is something we do. It is not the entirety of who we are. We can encourage children to dream big professionally while also nurturing compassion, curiosity, connection and psychological wellbeing. Perhaps the better question is: ✨ “What kind of person do you want to become — and how do you want your life to feel?” Because a meaningful life isn’t measured by achievement alone. Can coloring inside circles actually rewire an anxious brain, or is it just another wellness trend? 🧠✨ In our very first study breakdown, we dive into the landmark 2005 research by Nancy A. Curry and Tim Kasser published in Art Therapy. Here is what the science reveals: When participants were exposed to stress and then asked to color freely on a blank sheet, their anxiety barely budged; in fact, it slightly rose. A blank page demands decisions, inner dialogue, and creative pressure. Structured geometric coloring flipped the switch entirely. Engaging with pre-drawn mandala patterns led to a massive 17.10-point drop in anxiety, bringing participants below their original baseline. Why does it work? Mandalas sit in the neurological sweet spot between art therapy and focused meditation. The repeating, circular geometry is complex enough to quiet your mind's internal chatter, yet structured enough to prevent decision fatigue. If your brain feels cluttered today, step away from the blank page and give yourself 20 minutes with a structured pattern. 🔗 Read the full study: https://doi.org/10.1080/07421656.2005.10129441 (Grab your free printable mandala template via the link in our bio to try this protocol today!) 🚨 WHAT IF A SUDDEN CHANGE IN YOUR MENTAL STATE ISN’T “JUST YOU”? John Spagnola raises a serious warning about psychiatric medications and the side effects patients may experience after starting or changing treatment. In this clip, he discusses medications including: Antidepressants. Antipsychotics. Stimulants. Benzodiazepines. And he points to warnings involving suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and significant behavioral changes. His larger message: 🔥 PAY ATTENTION TO SUDDEN CHANGES. Because if you suddenly begin feeling drastically different… more anxious… more agitated… or experience thoughts that feel completely unlike you… you may assume: “Something is wrong with ME.” But John argues that medication effects should also be part of that conversation. That doesn’t mean stopping prescribed medication on your own. It means recognizing warning signs, taking them seriously, and talking to a qualified medical professional immediately. The most dangerous symptom may be the one you don’t recognize for what it is. 🎙️ Watch John Spagnola’s full conversation on The Asset Mindset Podcast — MIC 2026: 4 Stories That Hit Different. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #MentalHealth #MedicationAwareness #MentalHealthAwareness #PsychiatricMedication #MIC2026

Can drawing repetitive patterns genuinely rewire the human brain? 🧠✨ Welcome to @mandala.science. Here, ancient contemplative art meets modern cognitive neuroscience. For centuries, mandalas have been drawn across cultures as tools for meditation, sacred geometry, and mental alignment. Today, neuroscience gives us a lens to see why: the rhythmic repetition, bilateral symmetry, and deliberate micro-movements trigger a profound shift in brain chemistry. From inducing effortless flow state and balanced dopamine release to activating parasympathetic calm: we are decoding the hidden neural mechanics behind every dot, circle, and petal. 🌀 What to expect here: 🎨Neuroscience breakdowns of mandala art, sacred geometry and other Indigenous art forms 🎨The psychology of creative flow, dopamine, and calm Hit Follow @mandala.science and join the journey where the paintbrush 🎨 meets the laboratory.🔍 #neuroaesthetics #neuroscienceofart #artandscience #neuroart #newaccount

🧠 YOUR BRAIN IS CONTROLLING MORE THAN YOU THINK! 🔥 NEW 2026 NEUROSCIENCE REVIEW REVEALS HOW THE BRAIN AND BODY WORK AS ONE. Your central nervous system (CNS) does far more than control movement and thinking. It continuously integrates signals from your heart, gut, immune system and environment, influencing emotions, behaviour, sleep and mental health. 🔬 WHAT DOES THE SCIENCE REVEAL? 🧠 Interoception: The insula, prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate interpret body signals, influencing anxiety, stress and pain. ❤️ Brain–Body Connection: The vagus nerve and other pathways connect internal organs with emotional regulation networks. 🤝 Social Behaviour: Neural circuits regulate aspects of empathy, connection, reward and threat responses. 💤 Sleep & Consciousness: Thalamic circuits, orexin neurons and glial signalling influence arousal and sleep–wake transitions. ⚡ Mental Health: Dysregulation may contribute to brain fog, fatigue, emotional reactivity and stress sensitivity. 💡 HOW CAN WE SUPPORT OUR NERVOUS SYSTEM? 🧬 Biological: Exercise, consistent sleep, nutrition and hydration. 🧘 Psychological: Mindfulness, slow breathing, grounding and CBT strategies. 🤝 Social: Supportive relationships, connection and co-regulation. 🌿 Environmental: Morning sunlight, green spaces, reduced sensory overload and predictable routines. 🔑 THE BIG TAKEAWAY: Mental health isn’t just about your brain. It’s about how your brain, body and environment continuously communicate. 📚 RESEARCH: Kang L, Salas-Hernandez JL & Xu R. (2026). Central neural circuits and their associated mechanisms of inter-organ crosstalk. Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. DOI: 10.3389/fcell.2026.1830768 This review synthesises existing research; the suggested tools are supportive strategies, not proven treatments for the specific circuits discussed. 💬 Have you noticed how poor sleep, gut problems or chronic stress affect your mood and thinking? 🔖 SAVE & SHARE to spread neuroscience awareness! THE BRAIN’S HIDDEN UNCERTAINTY HUB? 🧠⚠️ A new Nature Neuroscience study recorded single human neurons from the claustrum during learning under uncertainty. Researchers found that the claustrum and anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) both tracked key hidden signals the brain uses to adapt: • uncertainty • prediction error • updating when outcomes surprise us Why does that matter? These processes are highly relevant to how we understand anxiety, PTSD, psychosis, and obsessive-compulsive phenomena — especially when the brain overestimates threat, struggles with uncertainty, or has difficulty updating beliefs. But important caution: This study was not a clinical trial, not a treatment study, and did not directly test mental health disorders. It was a small neurosurgical sample in people with refractory epilepsy, so the findings are exciting, but still early. Big takeaway: The claustrum may be an important part of the brain’s system for making sense of an uncertain world. 📚 Study: Hu M, Dalvit R, Medina-Pizarro M, et al. What if scientists could control specific brain cells using nothing but light? That became possible through optogenetics — a revolutionary technique that allows scientists to activate specific neurons using light. The story began with a surprising discovery in a tiny single-celled alga, leading to the discovery of channelrhodopsin and eventually transforming neuroscience. In 2026, Peter Hegemann, Georg Nagel, and Karl Deisseroth were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discoveries behind optogenetics. From algae → to neurons → to the brain. This is optogenetics. Subscribe to ALL EXPLAINED for fascinating science, history, mysteries, technology, space and more — explained simply. #short #optogenetics #nobelprize #neurosciences #science

The psychology behind “the last time” — why your brain never warns you it’s happening. You already had a last time you didn’t notice. It already happened. Not the big, memorable ones — a random Tuesday, a game you stopped playing, a ride you stopped needing. No warning, no music, no send-off. Human memory doesn’t work that way. This is a quirk of how the brain encodes experience: we register firsts in real time, but we only recognize lasts in hindsight, once the moment has already become a memory instead of a present-tense experience. It’s part of a broader psychological pattern around nostalgia, memory, and how the mind quietly reclassifies the ordinary as significant only after it’s gone. Something completely ordinary happening in your life right now, today, is probably one of those moments — you just won’t know which one until it’s already behind you. Comment “LAST” if one just came to mind. — mindtheory.1 #memory #nostalgia #psychology #humanbehavior #mindtheory

Stop paying therapists to talk about problems your body is desperately trying to physically discharge! 🧠❌ Trauma is never just a psychological memory; it is an incomplete physical survival cycle trapped inside your tissues and regulated by your vagus nerve. As long as your nervous system stays locked in that loop, endless talking will only keep you trapped in the narrative. True liberation requires bottom-up somatic work that speaks the direct language of your biology. Save this post if you’re ready to heal deeper, and follow @unmanifestedprana for the intersection of ancient somatic wisdom and modern science. 🌌 #SomaticTherapy #TraumaHealing #VagusNerve #NervousSystemRegulation #TheUnmanifestedPrana Dark, abstract aesthetic slide design displaying typography about somatic release, nervous system loops, and cellular body memory.
