Us Cyclebreakers own our mistakes! We admit when we are wrong without shrinking. Many of us grew up learning that keeping the peace meant apologizing for reacting to harm or taking the blame so someone else can stay comfortable. That ends with us. Defending yourself against disrespect is NOT aggression, it’s self-respect. When someone starts the fire and cries about the smoke, you don’t have to carry that guilt. Own what’s yours. Sitting at a window working out what she’d actually built, she realized she had left her children everything worldly and almost nothing spiritual. So she wrote a book “You have to know”. Printed five copies, just for her kids. The publicist refused to print five. Her book became number one! In this episode, Melanie talks about being raised by a mother who spent her life trying to die, about lying on the floor by her mother’s bed as a small child with a stuffed animal and a joke to keep her alive one more night, and about what it took to stop that inheritance from moving one more generation.
