This was an emotional experience, for many reasons. Yea, it's just hair, but at the same time, it's also not. It's experiences, memories, femininity, beauty, all the things.

When I was 12 my hair got a little matted up because I wasn't detangling it properly. So my guardian took me to a barber shop and had them give me a fade. It was mad weird. And embarrassing. I came home and cried, and every week I would measure it, for reassurance that it would grow back. And it did. Since then I've cut my hair many times, but never this short. Even when it was damaged, I'd try to hold on to as much as possible so I could still have "hang time". I realized I'd been holding on to trauma and fear and it was time to let it go chile.

I was so nervous and scared but @youceeme was super patient and took her time to make sure this is what I really wanted. Thanks girl! Now I feel extra womanly for some reason😆. And I have no idea how it's gonna look when I wet it cuz straight hair and summer don't mix for me..it might end up giving Ice Spice but idc idc! Imma make it pop!
