Our weekend road trip itinerary | Accra ⇢ Eastern Region 🇬🇭

Here’s everything we got up to:

📍 Oboadaka Waterfall — our first stop on the road out of Accra.

🏨 Krossova Hotel — checked in, settled down and spent the night here.

🎯 Goose Chase @goosechase — split into teams and competed in a series of challenges. My team finished first and still came last. I’m not over it. 😂

🍽️ Dinner — I ordered palava sauce and boiled yam. I’ve been spoilt. This one didn’t hit.

🏊🏾 Pool morning — water guns, ball games and general poolside enjoyment.

🥞 Buffet breakfast — I had plenty to eat.

🎨 Sip and Paint — we channeled our inner Picassos and got creative.

🌊 Bridgeview Lakeside — jet skiing, lunch, drinks and lounging by Lake Volta before heading back to Accra.

It was a pretty full weekend, but I think the best part was having enough time to actually enjoy each stop instead of rushing through them.

If you’re planning a weekend escape from Accra, save this for later. 🤎

Ep. 02 | Weekend-maxxing in Ghana 🇬🇭

I think one of the things I’m slowly learning about living in Accra is that your social life is really what you make of it.

There’s always something happening, but you also have to be willing to step out and look for it.

And for me, that has meant saying yes to things I probably wouldn’t have considered before.

Like playing padel on a Friday evening when I had never held a padel racket in my life.

Or showing up to play snooker on a Sunday when I’d only played it once before.

I’m beginning to realise that the social scene in Accra isn’t just about parties, brunches and going out at night. There’s a whole world of activities, communities and people creating their own kind of fun.

And I really love that.

This weekend, I played padel and snooker with people who make being outside feel like the easiest thing in the world.

I can’t believe that this is what my weekends look like now. Trying new things. Meeting people. Finding little pockets of joy. Every single weekend. And building a life that makes me excited to leave my house.

I think I like it here.

Ep. 01 | Weekend-maxxing in Ghana 🇬🇭

My weekends in Ghana have been for anything but sitting at home.

I recently joined a little tradition my friends have, of doing something every weekend; checking somewhere new, taking a road trip, finding a good place to hang out and play games, or just getting out and exploring.

And because I’m very much here for it, I’ve decided to document it.

They say you might not always end up where you planned, but you could end up somewhere pretty good.

After arriving to find that the resort we booked as our road trip destination was nothing like what was advertised online, we had to look for the next available place nearby. And that was how we ended up at Krossova Hotel on Senchi Ferry Road, in Ghana’s Eastern Region.

And honestly, it turned out to be a pretty good detour.

One of the first things I noticed about Krossova was its layout. The property is designed almost like its own little village, with the rooms spread across the grounds in these cute, hut-like structures. The whole place initially felt a bit like a maze to me.😅

The rooms are simple but comfortable, with air conditioning, hot-water showers, Wi-Fi, satellite TV and the essentials you need for a good night’s rest. Breakfast is included and served buffet-style, so we had a decent spread to choose from the next morning before continuing our road trip.

There’s also a swimming pool, restaurant and bar on the property, plenty of parking space, and the hotel offers boat cruises as one of its leisure activities. With everything spread across the grounds, it really feels like a little self-contained community.

Its location also makes it a good base for exploring some of the attractions around the Eastern Region, including the Adomi Bridge, Akosombo, and the Lake Volta.

It definitely wasn’t the staycation we originally planned, but for a last-minute booking after our first booking didn’t work out, Krossova was actually a pretty pleasant surprise.
