POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last night, Full Circle (the Podcast) went to the theater!
Martha and Charles got to experience the brilliance of Rennie Harris Puremovement.

Rennie is the Artist In Residence at Penn Live Arts.
“American Street Dancer” is the first new work to come from that residency.
The piece is, in a word, stellar. A dynamic cross-section of the history, sounds, rhythms, movements and styles that party together under the umbrella of “Street Dance.”

From the “Hip Hop Orchestra” composed of prolific beat boxers, an African drum master, joyful bucket drummers and the anchor that was the legendary DJ Razor Ramon, to several regional styles like Jit Dancing and Chicago Footwork (both of which were refreshingly new to me,) to homegrown Philly styles like hoofing and the GQ Step...the show was a living breathing celebration of the history, innovation and resilience of American Street Dance.

There are two more chances to catch this amazing performance:

2pm and 8pm at the Zellerbach Theater.

Trust, you do NOT want to miss out!

PS: We took several photos last night but the latest iOS update ate them, apparently. Take my word for it...we were gorgeous! 😎

Joy is our weapon. We will continue to live brightly and joyously. Let them spend their whole lives fighting, hating, banning - just to find out: nothing can stop love.

It has always been more than taking a picture but capturing moments, making the viewer feel. Who knows maybe 2024 will bring more special moments to capture and share.
