Dallas, you gave me memories I’ll be smiling about for years! 🤠💛✨

Looking back on the 2025 Lifestyle Medicine conference in Dallas, Texas, my heart is full. What a wonderful experience celebrating a field I love so deeply—and honestly, I had the time of my life! 🌿🎉

When it was time to head out on the town, I brought that happiness right along with me. 🌃✨ I wanted to enjoy the moment, celebrate being alive, and share a little of that joy with everyone I met.

Some people had never even heard of lifestyle medicine! How lovely to connect through a smile, a conversation, and the simple pleasure of enjoying life together. I hope everyone I met felt a little of the warmth and happiness I was carrying. 🤗💚

As a nurse practitioner, I care deeply about helping people live well. And as Nathanael, I treasure opportunities to laugh, celebrate, be myself, and welcome others into that happiness. This trip gave me room for all of it. ☀️🫶

That spirit is part of what I hope to share through Kitchen Monk™ and Flourishing Nursing™: compassion, connection, and an invitation for everyone to flourish. There is room for you here, wherever you are beginning. 🌱🪷

To everyone who shared in that wonderful time—at the conference and around town—thank you! You made this visit something special, and I am still grateful for the joy we shared. 🥹💛

Here’s to bringing the inspiration home and finding everyday opportunities to pass that happiness along. ✨

A garden can grow vegetables. It can also grow belonging. 🌱💚🏙️

Michelle Obama, thank you for helping bring the spirit of your White House kitchen garden to the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. 🥬🍅✨

The Eleanor Roosevelt Fruit and Vegetable Garden brings gardening, food, and cooking into a welcoming community space—with free access to the outdoor grounds and opportunities to connect through free Garden Gatherings. 🌿🤝

As a nurse practitioner and founder of Kitchen Monk™ and Flourishing Nursing™, I see something beautiful here: people learning together, discovering what they can grow, and building connections around nourishment. 🩺🥕💚

This reflects the heart of Flourishing Nursing™:
🌱 Nourishment and practical education.
🚶🏽 Movement and time outdoors.
🤝 Relationships and community.
☀️ Purpose, participation, and belonging.

It’s one of the first places I’ve personally seen that so clearly reflects my vision of a flourishing center—a place where caring for people includes nurturing the community around them. 🌻

Imagine nurses, gardeners, cooks, educators, children, and neighbors coming together in spaces like this across the country. Everyone bringing something to share. Everyone having something to learn. 🏡🥣🌎

Thank you, Michelle Obama and everyone helping this garden grow. You’re giving us something hopeful to learn from—and imagine for our own communities. 🙏💚

🌿 An invitation into flourishing rather than condemnation.

My shoulder hurts. The sun is shining. And today, there is room for both. ☀️💛

Before today’s meeting and seeing Dr. Alan Goldhamer @alangoldhamer @officialtruenorthhealthcenter again, I stepped into the sunlight, took my shirt off, and danced.

Behind this smile is a left shoulder that has endured repeated dislocations and three surgeries. There are difficult days, unanswered questions, and moments when I miss how freely I used to move.

This little dance was a moment of joy in the middle of all that.

Seeing Dr. Goldhamer again brought back memories of the roughly six months we worked together—and a question close to my heart as a nurse practitioner:

Who cares for the people who care for everyone else?

Clinicians need rest, nourishment, compassion, and opportunities to heal, too. We need spaces where we can set down our professional titles and simply be human.

Dr. Goldhamer, I’d welcome a conversation about that—how we help the caregivers flourish alongside the people they serve. 🌿

Today, my own moment of #flourishing was simple: sunlight, music, a little movement, and gratitude to God for another day.

Still healing. Still dancing. Still me. ✨

Some people leave a light in your life that time can never dim. 🪔💛

Seeing Kelly Edmondson’s face brings me back to 2010, when I had the privilege of serving the Lord in Guyana, South America, as a pre-nursing student alongside Kelly, her husband, and a wonderful team of medical missionaries. 🇬🇾🩺✝️

Before I had nursing credentials after my name, I was learning what it meant to show up with willing hands, an open heart, and a desire to serve. That experience remains a precious part of my journey into nursing—and my understanding of how faith and compassionate care can come together. 🌎🤲

Kelly, thank you to you, your husband, and everyone who helped make that experience possible. You may never know the full reach of the seeds you planted in a young student’s heart. Sixteen years later, I still remember. I still carry that gratitude. And I still want my life’s work to reflect the love of Jesus Christ. 🌱💚

Today, as a nurse practitioner, my prayer is that my work helps people feel seen, cared for, and invited into a fuller life.

May God bless your continued ministry and every student discovering their own calling to serve. Thank you for being part of mine. 🙏🕊️

Somewhere in the world, a nurse is pulling up a chair. 🌍🪔

Making room for the story behind the symptoms.
Asking what matters.
Listening long enough for someone to feel safe telling the truth.

That moment may never make the headlines. But to the person being heard, it can mean everything.

Seeing the INCA community represented across six continents reminds me why I believe so deeply in nursing: our languages, cultures, and communities may differ, yet we share the extraordinary privilege of caring for another human being.

Nurse coaching makes space for people to recognize their strengths, choose meaningful goals, and take their next step with support.

This is part of the future I’m working toward through Flourishing Nursing™ and Kitchen Monk™—care rooted in compassion, curiosity, and the belief that every person deserves an opportunity to flourish. 🌱

To the nurses caring for their communities around the world: may you receive the same patience, tenderness, and hope you offer so freely.

And to the person wondering whether your small act of care matters:

There is a person who remembers that you stayed.

🪔 One lamp can help another find the way.

Thank you, @inursecoach, for sharing this beautiful reminder of nursing’s global reach.

Nurses and nurse coaches: where in the world are you keeping the lamp lit? 📍💛

Weather is something every one of us experiences. Understanding what is driving it matters.

At the 2026 Clinton Global Initiative, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Wendy Abrams presented ABC News Chief Meteorologist and Chief Climate Correspondent Ginger Zee with the inaugural CGI Climate Champion Award, recognizing Zee’s work connecting weather, climate, data, and science for the public.

For those of us working in health, this connection matters too. Extreme heat, wildfire smoke, severe storms, disrupted food systems, displacement, and other climate-related hazards can become human-health issues long before they are discussed as abstract environmental ones. Climate resilience and public health increasingly belong in the same conversation.

I appreciate communicators who make complex science understandable without losing sight of the people affected. Congratulations to Ginger Zee on this recognition, and to the Clinton Global Initiative for highlighting the importance of translating climate science into information communities can actually use.

The question is not only what weather are we experiencing — but what does the evidence tell us about why conditions are changing, who is affected, and how we can build healthier and more resilient communities?

🩺📖 NURSES SUPPORT NURSES.

I’m proud to help celebrate and promote Nurse Blake’s new book, CODE CALM.

For years, @nurse.blake has made nurses laugh, brought our profession together, advocated for healthcare workers, and reminded us that the people behind the scrubs matter too.

Now he is opening an even more important conversation: Who cares for the caregiver?

Code Calm grew out of Blake’s own journey and brings together real experiences and practical tools addressing burnout, trauma, compassion fatigue, stress, sleep, boundaries, and the emotional weight of nursing.

That message matters deeply to me.

As @americannursesofficial nurses, we are trained to assess everyone else.
To notice everyone else.
To advocate for everyone else.
To answer the call light.

But sometimes we need permission to recognize when our own light is flashing too.

Supporting nurses means more than telling them to be resilient. It means creating cultures where nurses can rest, recover, speak honestly, set boundaries, find community, rediscover purpose, and ultimately flourish.

That is a vision I believe belongs alongside everything we are building through lifestyle nursing, Kitchen Monk™, and the broader movement toward healthier nurses and healthier communities.

Blake, thank you for continuing to use your platform not only to make nursing laugh, but to make nursing talk about the things we too often carry silently.

I’m cheering for Code Calm and for every nurse who needs the reminder:

The caregiver is worthy of care, too.

Congratulations, Nurse Blake. 🩺📖

✨ This message is so true.

You really can do anything in this life.
Do not let fear, failure, rejection, your past, or even your own inner doubts convince you otherwise.

Show up.
Stay disciplined.
Keep growing.
Keep believing.
And do not give up.

Sometimes the greatest battle is not against other people — it is against the voice inside that says you are not enough. But you are enough, and with faith, consistency, courage, and hard work, so much is possible. 🙏💫

I love seeing messages like this that remind people to keep going, keep becoming, and keep walking toward the person they were created to be.

Let this be your reminder today:
keep showing up for your calling.
Your future is still unfolding. 🌿

What a beautiful moment for Chicago and our country as the @obamafoundation @michelleobama @barackobama @obamawhitehouse Presidential Center opens its doors. 🇺🇸🌿

What inspires me most is the vision of a place that brings people together—not only to remember history, but to learn, gather, grow, and strengthen community.

That is a vision @kitchenmonkofficial Kitchen Monk™ hopes to encourage in every city.

Imagine community spaces where gardens, teaching kitchens, movement, health education, nurses, CNAs, chefs, families, and neighbors all come together around one shared purpose:

Helping people flourish.

They do not need to be enormous campuses. They can begin in libraries, schools, community centers, gardens, clinics, and neighborhood kitchens.

One garden.
One table.
One neighborhood.
One city at a time.

May the Obama Presidential Center inspire communities everywhere to ask:

What can we build together?
