Chrome reflections and Caribbean warmth in Holyoke with @bikismo 🇵🇷🇺🇸

Spanning a towering black facade along Main Street in South Holyoke, this phenomenal piece by Puerto Rican master @bikismo brings digital culture and mind-bending optical illusion together on a massive scale.

Titled "Chromoji" and painted for the Beyond Walls organization, the mural features an oversized heart-eyes emoji rendered in gleaming, mirror-finished sky-blue chrome.

But take a closer look at the reflections warped across the surface. Embedded inside the hearts and lower tongue are detailed reflections of tropical palm trees, sunny shorelines and island horizons from Bikismo’s native Puerto Rico.

For a city celebrated for having one of the highest Puerto Rican populations per capita outside the island, bringing Caribbean light directly to the brick walls of Holyoke makes this piece especially meaningful.

What makes it even more staggering: the entire metallic illusion was painted 100 percent freehand with spray cans -- no stencils, no airbrushes and no shortcuts. A true masterpiece by "La Joya del Caribe."

📍 387 Main St (South Holyoke), Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA 🇺🇸
🎨 Artist: @bikismo (Joshua Santos Rivera/Bikismo)
🖼️ Title: Chromoji

In just under three weeks, the Elm Street and High Street parking garages have been transformed into vibrant works of art, inspired by the theme “Nashua in Motion,” reflecting the movement of people, ideas, culture, and the city’s continued growth.

The work was done through a partnership with the City of Nashua, Beyond Walls – a nonprofit placemaking agency – Payette, an architecture firm, and three internationally recognized street artists.

— WOVEN WORLDS —
Our new mural in Nashua NH, happy to assist @leonkeer. Originally a massive 19th-century textile manufacturing hub powered by the Nashua and Merrimack rivers.
This Mural celebrates the universal language of textiles and the stories they carry across continents and generations. The mural brings together a rich collection of fabrics inspired by patterns, colors, and traditions from cultures around the world. Rather than existing as separate pieces, these textiles are woven into a single structure, symbolizing the connections between people, histories, and identities. #leonkeer #mural #publicart @beyondwallslynn @golden305 @cityofnashuanh
