Born in Bedford-Stuyvesant, where he still works, Bailey is a Black trans artist whose practice involves what he calls “spiritual and mental foraging”, drawing upon his Christian upbringing, Caribbean heritage, Black and queer communities, trans embodiment, and punk culture, as well as the interior terrain of dreams and the imaginative worlds of fantasy and myth.

Meet the muses of Metamorphic! + A curator's note from @tink_a.bink

During the curation of this show, it was essential to showcase a wide range of media. No two pieces are the same, no two artists are the same. What resulted is a collection of pieces chosen for their hidden, beautiful connections!

To see these beautiful works of art in person, visit @thehausofcollectives on Tuesday, March 31st (trans visibility day) from 12 pm - 8 pm. Tickets are in our bio (or the hand QR code). Together, 50% of proceeds will be donated to @blacktransliberation to support the incredibly beneficial work they do. Come celebrate trans visibility and kick off trans art fest 2026 @transartfest with us!!

Don't miss Bennett Bailey (@bforbennett) and our other artists at 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, our 2025 M.F.A thesis exhibition! The show will remain on view in the Art Gallery at Brooklyn College until June 24.

📍 @artgalleryatbc (Lower Level, Boylan Hall)
☀️ Open Tuesday–Thursday, Noon–5 p.m.
🗓️ May 6—June 24

"Bennett Bailey's paintings emerge as relics of lived transformation: as a Black, queer, trans artist, his work is not a narration of identity, but a physical and ritualistic excavation of it.

Histories of displacement, misrecognition, and resilience have shaped him and embedded themselves into hand driven and gesturally layered work. Each piece uses the body as a site of memory and ongoing emergence, allowing emotional debris to summon stories and perspectives as atmospheric pressure"

We'll be hosting a panel of artists who showed in Politics of Relation in the gallery space! Come with questions and stay for banter as these grads discuss narrative, emotion and connection throughout their works. Thank you to @jennmccoyspace for moderating! ✨
