Grief changes the way you think about time and priorities. One thing I regret after Zach died, was not taking him on a trip alone. We did everything with them as twins. Luke was going through a lot medically, so we held off on trips. Then Zach was gone.

I had the rare opportunity to plan a trip to go Crystal Mining with Avant Mining in Arkansas. I jumped at the chance and started planning a bucket list trip with my son, @samcoldclam . We both have a special interest in geology and gem stones.

The whole trip was perfect. I prayed Sam would find “a big one”. His knowledge on crystals is amazing and far exceeds what I comprehend. He can stare into a gem and tell me everything about it.

The weather had been 80’s and sunny all week in Hot Springs…until we got there. Our mining day started with temps in the high 50’s and raining all day off and on. Weird, right? It was like God was orchestrating everything. The rain softened the red clay we were about to start digging in and the low temps kept us cool as we exerted ourselves.

We were fortunate to be able to dig in a non-public mine privately. James Zigras, @james_zigras of @avantmining had his team take care of us…and man, what a day we had with them. Amazing people and so full of excitement for us, knowing how much this trip meant.

While I stayed back in a hole, trying to unveil a cluster I had found, Sam left with Ciji and Brad around the corner and came back with one of the largest crystals found in that area. Amazing. I tried not to cry as he came back with it hidden behind his back and a big smile on his face. You can hear the emotion in my voice. That moment made the whole trip perfect.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for James’ generosity and the kindness that was shown by Ciji, @freethefreelings and Brad, @bfouts207 .

Thanks, guys. From the bottom of my heart. Bucket list trip checked off…but I definitely think we will be back. ❤️

My son Brad came back to Indy from Naples Fl and we had the best week. Hiking at Holiday Park, hanging with his brothers Mitch and Alex, visiting Julie, Jan and Howard at the lake, going to the IMA with Kelli and Chase, Bottleworks downtown with Kelli and friends, and finally my family reunion today celebrating all the big events we missed that last two years. My sisters 50th, my parents 50th wedding anniversary and my Moms 80th Birthday!! An Amazing week!! Life is good!
