✨️CFLSE Toronto Presents: "Leadership, Municipalities & the Future: A Fireside Chat with Jeff Lehman"🌟

The CFLSE Toronto Chapter was pleased to host an insightful evening of dialogue, professional networking, and alumni engagement featuring LSE alumnus, Mr. Jeff Lehman (LSE MSc '98), former Mayor of Barrie and current Chair of the District Municipality of Muskoka 🇨🇦.

Moderated by Meaghan Barrett, Partner at Aird & Berlis LLP, the fireside chat explored Jeff's academic experiences at the LSE, his transition into public service, and his leadership journey through municipal politics 🤝.

The discussion offered fascinating perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of municipal governance, the importance of effective leadership, and the role of public institutions in shaping the future of our communities.

We extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Mr. Jeff Lehman for sharing his experiences and perspectives, and to Meaghan Barrett for facilitating such a thoughtful and engaging conversation.

A special thank you to Gary Volman, LSE alumnus and Lawyer/Partner, and his law firm Aird & Berlis LLP for their generous hospitality and sponsorship in making this event possible.
We also wish to recognize Ruth Fernandes for her dedication and assistance with the planning and coordination of this successful gathering ❤️.

Finally, thank you to all our attendees for contributing to an evening of engaging discussion and meaningful connections👏.

Please feel free to see some highlights from the event and we look forward to engaging again with our alumni community at our future functions.

Empanadas, but make it art. 📸🥟

Some art belongs in museums. Ours belongs in your hands. 🎨🖼️

A little less Picasso, a little more picante. 😮‍💨🔥

If only you could reach through the screen 🤤 until that’s possible, we’ll play it ol’ school and have your empanadas ready in a minute! Problem solved.

Outreach 🥢

A stunning deep ochre autumn extension, bringing together bittersweet branches, golden calla lilies, celosia, craspedia and ruscus for a wild, textural finish.

A powerful reminder of the impact of visual storytelling: I had the opportunity to visit the World Press Photo Exhibition at Brookfield Place. 📸

Seeing these raw, award-winning images framed beneath the soaring arches of the Allen Lambert Galleria creates a striking contrast between our daily professional routines and the global stories unfolding around us.

Photojournalism plays a vital role in documenting truth, fostering empathy, and keeping us connected to global perspectives.

If you are near Toronto’s financial district, I highly recommend taking 20 minutes to walk through—it is well worth step away from the desk.

Orange for remembrance 🧡

In recognition of truth and reconciliation day this week, we’ve designed our florals to reflect the meaning behind Orange Shirt Day, honouring the First Nations children and all that they endured 🧡
