The #LightsOnAfterschool celebration isn't over yet: we've got more #LightbulbChallenge photos to share from DCYF-funded programs across San Francisco! Each photo is a reminder of the people who make afterschool programs so special. From the children, youth, and young adults who participate to the dedicated staff who support them, these programs bring people together, create opportunities, and help build stronger communities. We're excited to see so many of our grantees taking part in this nationwide celebration, and we're grateful for the work they do throughout the year! Check out the growing collection of Lightbulb Challenge photos from our grantees and City department partners (link also in bio): www.sf.gov/lights-on-afterschool-2026

More than 250 young people and 22 local employers came together at Stonestown Galleria yesterday for the CYC Fall Youth Job Fair. Throughout the afternoon, young people met directly with employers, learned about job opportunities, and received practical support through resume reviews, mock interviews, professional clothing, and more. Thank you to all the participating employers for sharing their time and connecting with San Francisco’s young talent. We’re also grateful to @stonestowngalleria for welcoming us back and helping make this event possible. This Saturday, the Family Summit Series is coming to the OMI! Join us at the Minnie and Lovie Ward Recreation Center on September 26 for a free meal, a chance to connect with your neighbors, and a conversation about what’s working for San Francisco families, what could be better, and what children, youth, and families need to stay, belong, and thrive in the city. The Family Summits are part of San Francisco’s first Citywide Community Needs Assessment. What participants share will help inform future planning, programs, and services for children, youth, and families. There’s still time to register for the District 11 OMI Family Summit! Our seventh annual Summer Giveback was another incredible reminder of what can happen when our community comes together to support local youth. Thanks to the support of our friends, partners, donors, and volunteers, we were able to provide 100 complete skateboards, 100 pairs of Vans shoes, and additional gear to youth throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. A huge thank you to All In SF for once again partnering with us to help make the Summer Giveback possible, and to Vans for generously providing 100 brand new pairs of shoes. We’d also like to thank our community partners and organizations who helped us make this year’s Giveback a success: Boys & Girls Club San Francisco Rec & Park Galing Bata Mission Learning Vocational Services Road Map To Peace All In SF Tailor Made SFUSD Filipino Mental Health Initiative Mission Merchants Association The City Eats The Assist Project A special thank you to Señor Sisig for providing food for all of our attendees and volunteers. Of course, none of this happens without the shops, brands, individuals, volunteers, and members of the skateboarding community who donate their time, money, products, and energy to this event year after year. Thank you to everyone who donated through DLX, SF Skate Club, and Atlas, and to everyone who spent their time helping us put boards together, organize gear, and get everything into the hands of kids. Seven years in, we’re incredibly grateful to see the Summer Giveback continue to grow. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year another one to remember.
