ARTIST SPOTLIGHT featuring @tastelessjack #woostock26 #thisisit #goodmusicoutofworcester #risingtidesraiseallships

This was one of the larger events Jorge put together. Musicians, vendors, sponsors, friends, people who had never met each other before, together because Jorge decided to make something happen. He was constantly lifting up those around him. Booking shows. Promoting his friends. Connecting people. Showing up. Celebrating other people’s music. He believed in artists supporting artists, and he actually lived that way.

Jorge wasn’t just part of the Worcester music scene. He helped grow and sustain it. I’m going to miss my friend terribly. But I’m also incredibly grateful that I got to know him, make music with him, and be part of the community he helped create. Thank you for everything, Jorge.

The final song played at Jorge’s birthday show this year. I’m really grateful I got to be there and that he asked me to play. Jorge was always bringing people together. He gave so much to the Worcester music community.

We played a lot of shows together but I think this was the only time both of our bands shared a bill. Partway through Tasteless Jack’s set Jorge took off his jacket and underneath was a Mowesby shirt. That was the kind of supportive friend Jorge was to us. 💙

Jorge was family to so many of us, and we know the depth of this loss reaches far beyond any one room or group of people. As we continue to grieve the impossible reality of losing him, we hope those who loved him will come together to support his family and one another, share in his memory, and celebrate the person who meant so damn much to so many.

Calling Hour:
Friday, August 28th 3-4pm

Memorial Service: 4pm

Address: Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care.

Please join us as we stand beside Jorge’s family and surround them with the love of the many people whose lives he touched. Bring your stories, your memories, your tears, and all the love you have for him.

Summer Ruckus is upon us!

First Tuesdays: in collaboration with the Pleasant Street Neighborhood Network Center, the Dirty Gerund is supporting an all ages sober open mic series that will kick off July 7, and if it goes well, return August 4! Join us for a Pleasant Poetry Reading from 7 to 9 PM in their community space on Pleasant Street.

Saturday July 25 at 230 PM, join us in the main Worcester Public library Banx room for an afternoon of poetry. Bring printed copies of your poems ready to share and workshop as a group!

Sunday August 9 at 330 PM, join us at George’s Coney Island for an all ages open mic followed by the glorious return of the Iron Poet round 1 qualifier! Sign up for the iron poet with Nark ASAP.

Keep an eye on our social media for any updates, (if there are any last minute Nark will typically share to our instagram story and many of our regulars will repost to get the word around), and feel free to drop questions in the comments.

Note These events will NOT take place on Mondays. Our regular weekly show is 21+ both inside and outside. Please do not come to Ralph’s for poetry night until you are of age and have a valid ID for the door. The door staff rotates and they will walk across the patio to check your ID, even if you’ve been a dozen times before. Please don’t get us in trouble by trying to sneak in, and join us at an all ages event elsewhere until you are of age.
