👋🏼 Hi, if this is your first time here, welcome!! I’m Jessica and I’m writing an upper YA fantasy series about faeries earning their wings. Think Cruel Prince x Peter Pan 😏 I’m also working on an adult Greek mythology standalone that reads like an anthology-esque tragedy!

Here I chat about bookish things, writing updates, and I’m officially querying for trad pub! I would love to connect with readers and writers, so if any of this sounds interesting to you, you’re in the right place. 😁

🏷️ Peter Pan, cruel Prince, romantasy, ya series, debut, querying, trilogy, faeries, faerie warrior, tropes, twist on faerie lore, tropes, bookish, bookstagram, trad pub, beta reading, editing, editing cave, officially editing, edits, fantasy, writing tips, relatable, book lovers, shoutout, appreciation post, accounts I love

Sorry for the delay in posting everything before the first. I’ve been busy offline, but I’m still planning to send out the newsletters this weekend. Please review today’s post carefully for the events. I started creating separate designs for each group, but couldn’t finish. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Happy WIP Wednesday! 📖 I have no updates on my own WIP so let's look at what other writers have been up to!

And wow this was supposed to be up hours ago. As always, special shout-out to my kids for their assistance in the delay✌🏽

Here’s when our amazing hosts will be available this month! This list highlights hosted sprints and meetups. However, not all events, such as checkpoints and DiNoWriMo, are included, so keep an eye on the servers for the full schedule. 🍂

🦊Out of Context! Tell me about something in a book out of context 😁 It can be your book or a book you’ve read

Here’s something from Between Roses (link in bio) out of context. Illustration of Cheshire is a piece I got commissioned ☺️

In the writer’s forum Wacky Writers, I have a thread where you post what happened in the story the last time you worked on it but out of context.

It’s really fun to read everyone’s posts 😁 People don’t have to be detailed at all. It just needs to be out of context.

You can do this with a book you read last, too. Don’t need to mention the title either. For me the last scene I read was this: Cold weather made the dragon people sluggish.

Tagging some who might enjoy this 😁

🦊❗️My Five Top Fives! Books, movies, horror movies, music, YouTube channels. What do we have in common? #fivetopfives

♦️♦️♦️♦️♦️
Favorite books (in terms of giving a 4.5 or 5 star):
✨A Thousand Splendid Suns ✨The Storm Keeper’s Island ✨Senlin Ascends✨In the Heart of the Sea✨Inferno

Favorite movies (I never get tired of watching these): Sister Act 1 & 2✨Interstellar✨Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron✨2012✨August Rush

“August Rush” Japanese title is translated as “The Miracle Symphony”. Honestly, I like the Japanese title better 🥰

Favorite horror movies (chosen because they are clever, creative, or a demonic possession in a new way): Zan-eh (in Japanese, The Inerasable)✨The Conjuring 2✨The Nun✨Deliver Us From Evil✨Midsommar

Favorite music (I can’t do five 😆): Heilung✨Courtney Hadwin✨Blu DeTiger✨Home Free✨Lindsey Stirling✨Ndlovu Youth Choir. Especially love “We Will Rise”.

Favorite YouTubers (based on my mood when I made this): Swell Entertainment✨Tale Foundry✨Ali Spagnola (staple favorite)✨Emezie Okorafor (PCFS)✨jessethereader

♦️♦️♦️♦️♦️
Of course, I also had honorable mentions in some of the lists. Hard to narrow down 😅 Movies were the easiest list because I have a small selection of movies that I never get tired of watching. So, do we have anything in common? 😁

Tagged some people. Send me yours if you’ve already done it. Anyone who sees this should try! 🥰
