POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

#FlashbackFriday I'm not the biggest Will Smith fan, but I cannot hear this song without my mind going back to my hometown and riding around with my daddy with the music on blast. It was randomly recommended for Monica's "Spooky Not Scary" Halloween Playlist and she loves it now too. And to think, maybe one day she'll have memories of listening to this song with me. 🥹 #MomentsWithMonicaH #MomLife #grateful #memories

Kids pay attention.

(LONG POST)

This morning, Monica saw @dollyparton while I was watching the news and asked what happened and when she died. So I explained things to her (in an age appropriate way).

It took everything in me to hold back my tears when she asked, "Is she still going to write her books?"

My girl LOVES getting mail and she especially loved when books came from "Ms. Dolly's @imaginationlibrary ." Last year, she saw Ms. Dolly on a library poster and insisted we take a picture with it. 🥰🤳🏿

My favorite quote about books says, “A house that has a library in it has a soul.” I'd like to think that a little bit of Ms. Dolly's soul lives in every home that received Imagination Library books.

Matthew has 2 more years in the program and I'm sure I'll shed a few more tears when next month's book shows up in our mailbox.🥹

But it makes my heart smile to think that Ms. Dolly wished to be remembered as "the book lady" and for her love of books because that is certainly true for my daughter. 📚👧🏾💗

What a legacy. 😇🙏🏾🕊

Because my black life matters, my brown-skinned, 6’4”, 280lb brother’s black life matters, and we cannot continue to let any more black families be destroyed at the hands of people who are supposed to protect us because #blacklives matter #weallcantbreathe until systemic oppression is dealt with #blackouttuesday
