Brian Howard | 1999 | Encinitas, CA

In 99, I moved to San Diego for the first time and lived with Jeff Taylor and his girlfriend, soon-to-be wife, Scotti. While there they introduced me to Brian, as well as @paulzitzer.

Fast forward a few years later, and I'm filming with Josh Stewart for his Static II video and was lucky enough to be invited on the Static "Alien Roadtrip" with Zitzer, who was the comedic relief as always. Over the years, I've kept in touch with Paul and have hung out with him a couple of times, but since '99 I haven't seen Brian.

With all that being said, I hope everything is going well for you my old friend. -Travis

Pt1:
2025 — in a lot of ways, you were pretty damn lame, but you also came through with some real bucket-list moments. I met some amazing people, took unforgettable trips with my best friends, and kept beating up my body while having a blast. I got some rough health news (knee is done), lost a few homies, and dealt with plenty of other stuff, too.
I’m not complaining — just calling it how it is. And like most of you already know, I LOVE LIFE. Just remember: behind all the good times, there are plenty of lows, pains, and moments that never make the highlight reel… and that’s true for every single one of us.

I’m a bit of a stranger in a StrangeLand right now—not so much the StrangeLove in which I typically dwell—where time has become far more relative than usual. So, it was nice to wake up a day in the future from a post in the past by @theskateboardmuseum (via the @strangelove.skateboards account) reminding me that we’ve been making our own skateboards for 10 years now—a surprising feat in its own right, I have to say. We’ve had our fair share of ups, downs, triumphs, tribulations, challenges, and even a heartbreak or two along the way, but that’s all just part of sustaining a near lifelong relationship to skateboarding and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this entrepreneurial journey with us (including and especially so our respective wives who have somehow managed to roll with all the tides), and everyone who has supported this little company of ours in its first decade of existence.
