Inkygoodness started as a side project between two best friends.

@michelleturton and I were both illustration graduates, trying to find our feet in the creative industry and figure out how to get our work out into the world.

We had no business plan. No grand ambitions. And absolutely no idea where it might lead.

What we did have was a huge amount of passion, curiosity and a shared love of illustration.

We started going to exhibitions, putting on shows, travelling to design and illustration conferences, meeting artists and studios and immersing ourselves in the industry however we could.

Along the way, I began reporting on emerging trends, new talent and creative culture for publications including @creativereview , Computer Arts and Digital Arts — getting a front-row seat to an industry I was passionate about. 💫

Looking back now, the foundations of Inkygoodness were already there:

Discover brilliant creative people. Bring them together. Share their work. Create opportunities to be seen.

We just had absolutely no idea where it was all going to take us…

In 2010, we took over a space on Brick Lane in London for our debut Inkygoodness exhibition, PLAY. ✨

We brought together artists and illustrators for a physical celebration of creativity, experimentation and play.

There was something incredibly exciting about taking the connections we’d been making and turning them into a real-world creative experience.

People weren't just following what we were doing.

They were showing up.

And Inkygoodness was starting to become something much bigger than we'd imagined. 👀

A year later, we headed to Berlin for @pictoplasma, bringing our Character Totem project into one of the world's biggest celebrations of character design.

Suddenly we were connecting with illustrators and creatives internationally — collaborating, exhibiting and becoming part of a much bigger global creative conversation.

This little side project was starting to take us places. 😍

As Inkygoodness grew, so did the opportunities — including a collaboration with IdN Magazine on a special issue: Contemporary Street Graphics, celebrating the cross-over between illustration and street art, and connec

A little re-introduction — and a glimpse of what’s coming next. ✨

Recently, I had the pleasure of inviting brilliant photographer Angela Grabotska into my new home for a studio shoot and it was super fun!

It also felt like a bit of a milestone.

Because behind the scenes, I’ve been working on a new chapter for Inkygoodness — one that brings together everything we’ve built over the years, while making space for where we’re heading next.

And I'm finally ready to share more with you! 👉

So, for those of you who are new here… hello! 👋 I’m Lisa Hassell, founder of @inkygoodness + @inkygoodnesscollective.

Here's a little bit about me and what I do. 👉

For more than a decade, I’ve worked as a creative director, educator, and mentor dedicated to helping illustrators thrive.

My mission is simple: creating opportunities for artists to develop their practice, build confidence, connect with the industry, and move their careers forward.

Driven by endless curiosity, creative chaos, and a lot of coffee, I find so much joy in this work, and I am endlessly grateful for the incredible community we’ve built together. ☕️✨

Through our courses, creative programmes, live events, and mentoring, I’ve had the privilege of working with thousands of illustrators worldwide.

This journey has been shaped alongside an incredible network of artists, art directors, agents, studios, and industry partners, and honestly, it’s been an absolute joy so far. 🌍✨

And right now, things are evolving again... 👀

A brand new Inkygoodness website is in the works. And there's lots happening behind the scenes... 😍

Our membership is being completely refreshed. New programmes, courses, collaborations and opportunities are taking shape.

And so much more we can't reveal yet 👀

Inkygoodness has evolved so much over the years, from our early days curating exhibitions and events, to running courses and launching our community.

We have big, ambitious plans for where we’re taking it next. Yet, through all the growth, my core belief remains exactly the same: I believe in the power of community, creative momentum, and opening doors for artists. ✏️💫

Whether you’ve been running with us for a decade
