🌍 I was once a little girl looking for safety. Today, I’ve turned my story into a book about hope, kindness and belonging for children everywhere. ❤️ In 1993, I arrived in England as a refugee fleeing the Bosnian war. I had lost my home, my father, my grandfather and the world I once knew. I didn’t speak English. Everything was unfamiliar. But wherever life took me, one thing remained the same. The sky. 🚨 BIG NEWS: THE PANTILES IS FOR SALE! 👀 One of the most iconic parts of our town has officially been put up for sale - and it’s only the second time in around 250 years that it’s changed hands. The sale includes: 🏛️ The historic Georgian Pantiles arcade 🍽️ 25 shops and restaurant units, plus workspaces and flats 🌳 More than 250 acres of land, including Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons 👑 The Lord of the Manor of Rusthall title, dating back to 1268 👀 🏠 Potential to refurbish up to 28 flats The Commons had already been put up for sale earlier this year and now they are part of this much bigger sale. The Pantiles isn’t just another bit of property in Tunbridge Wells. It’s markets, summer evenings, Live at The Pantiles, coffees, dinners, events, wandering around with the kids… it’s a massive part of our town. August is here, and with it comes a completely new pastry collection. Every month we strip the counter back and start again, building a range around the best seasonal ingredients we can get our hands on. No repeats, no shortcuts—just pastries we’d be genuinely excited to eat ourselves. This month’s collection includes our Milk Thistle & Blueberry Tart, baked with milk thistle frangipane and finished with a fragrant lemon verbena and honey glaze. Our Cherry & Chocolate Cross-Laminated Pillow takes inspiration from a Black Forest gateau, filled with chocolate frangipane, cherry compote and vanilla crema before being finished with freshly grated Mexican chocolate. For something brighter, our Roasted Pineapple & Mango Nest combines roasted fruit, coconut génoise, coconut curd and coconut arancini, finished with toasted coconut and fresh lime. Our new Orange, Pistachio & Honey Cake layers pistachio frangipane beneath a whole orange and pistachio sponge, soaked with honey syrup and finished with pistachio cream and roasted pistachios. Rounding out the specials is our Peach, Raspberry & Almond pastry, celebrating British stone fruit with roasted peaches, raspberry compote and almond frangipane. Alongside the monthly specials you’ll find our croissants, pain au chocolat, almond pain au chocolat, plum & hazelnut friands, our Parapanui-inspired coconut macaroons, date & ginger monkey bread, cinnamon brioche and our cookies, all baked fresh throughout the week. Everything is made by hand in our bakery in Tunbridge Wells. Once these specials are gone, they’re gone—and next month the counter changes all over again. Last night I was invited to @essence.pantiles to experience the Taste of Bihar. What a treat!! The food was beautifully aromatic and deeply comforting, with every dish offering wonderful layers of texture and flavours. The wine pairing was excellent, and the cocktails perfectly complimented the experience. What I loved most was how everything came together. The décor, the drinks and the food all told a beautiful story creating a real sense of place from the moment we arrived. A huge thank you to the entire team @essence.pantiles for the invitation. It was also an absolute pleasure to meet @atulkochharrestaurants I've been a long time admirer of his work, so having the chance to meet one of my culinary heroes and leave with a signed book made the evening even more special. #food #heritage #culture #connection
