Happy weekend! Well it’s been (yet another) interesting week here at @breathe.andread hq. Both my kiddies caught Covid, I had a lovely two days with Ofsted, and then to finish the week off, I also tested positive yesterday. It really has been, the week that just kept on giving! Anyway… book talk. I bring to you my Hard Expectations. Yes, I’ve just made that up. These are 4 hardbacks that I have high expectations for. 📚 All the books 📚 I saw @readingmumoftwo post her #booksonthego challenge a while back, and knew it was one I wanted to have a go at. So I’ve gathered up the books we are reading at the moment in our household. D - aged 5 She is right at the start of her reading journey and is picking up phonics really well. She’s also really enjoying fairytales at bedtime . Her books are... 📙ORT Leek Hotpot 📙Fearless Fairytales 📙Usbourne 10 minute fairytales H - aged 8 He’s always been a reluctant and struggling reader, but this last 12 months he’s become more confident and actually enjoying reading. He was made a free reader last week at school and was so happy 😊. He reads on his own most nights now. But also has a book that he reads with me, and a book he reads with his dad for 5 minutes each night, depending on who is on bedtime duty. I think being read to is so important! 📘 The Train to Impossible Places - Dads book 📘 Diary of a Wimpy Kid : The Third Wheel - his book 📘 The Weather Weaver - our book Me 📕 Love Well Every Day - my read along with @adventureswithwords and @dralexgeorge that starts today 📕Nothing but Blue Sky Mr B He’s not a massive reader. Opposites attract I guess. He goes through spells of reading a little, then reading nothing at all. I’ve put his last read on here as it’s still sat on his bedside table. 📗 Ready Player One.
