Not your typical burial attire. But he wasn’t your typical human. 💔

I lost one of my favorite people in the entire world a week ago. He’s in my phone as My Attorney bc I knew if I ever got into any type of trouble and someone looked through my phone and saw that - that’s who they’d call. We’ve been friends for 30 years and 10x that wouldn’t be enough. It’s incomprehensible to me that I will never walk into a room and hear him absolutely bellow “Auntie Lars!!!” and wrap me in one of those giant bear hugs. I haven’t figured out how we’ll live without him.
Tom,
You were the first guest on any party list I made. You could make me laugh in my worst moments.
And Thanksgiving turkeys will SUCK from now on.
I’m really pretty mad at you for leaving us all right now. But I’ll get over it and remember YoYee, you wearing my overalls, “are these your shoes??”, and I’ll hear you in every sweet metal song I hear for the rest of my life! And I promise to help keep all of the stories alive for the kids. I miss you already and I love you so much.

It’s so incredibly hard to put these words here. We lost one of the greatest humans I’ve ever known far too soon. We were incredibly lucky to spend 27 (or so) amazing years with Big Tom. He was the heart and soul of every party we ever had together (and there were a lot). His cooking, his giant bear hugs, his and Shane’s “over-the-top” love of sweet metal, his ability to always be there for me when I had questions (he seemed to have all the answers). I know he was this to every person who knew him. I’ve never known someone who did so much. He did everything… worked hard, played hard and was just the most devoted to those closest to him. He was always so present in life. I was always in awe. There was this one time years ago, I put a contract on our front door for Tom to sign before he entered stating that he and Shane were not allowed to talk “Sweet Metal (music)” during that night. He signed. What I wouldn’t give to talk “Sweet Metal” with you right now Tom. That contract is null and void. So many amazing memories.

I’ll leave you with this. One of our New Year’s Eve Parties (they were epic). Big Tom is doing his rendition of Raw Hide. And there in the background is David Byrne laughing right along with everyone else. To know Tom is to laugh with him and love him. I don’t know how we will get through life. We will shower his family with love. We will be in the moment more. And I hope anyone reading this will do the same. BE LIKE TOM and the world will be a better place.

Happy Thanksgiving my loves!!!
From me, the family I got, and the family I chose, they are what I’m most thankful for. ❤️🦃
From our tables to our people, to our ever-so-focused charades teams - it was one for the books!!
