40 years round the ☀️🙏🏻

Dear little Daniel, and Daniel of 10 years ago facing down death,

It’s gonna be ok.

You’re 40 now, working as a touring singer-songwriter (as well as a photographer, filmmaker, driver, tour manager, fence demolisher, branch waver, painter, tire carrier, etc etc).

You have more friends than you ever thought possible. From California to Nashville to New York, from Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Ireland and the UK, people care about you. People you didn’t even know a few years ago (or a few weeks ago).

You spend a lot of beautiful moments with your family and loved ones. You have grandmas and uncles and cousins in Sweden, they are the best! (You were on a Swedish TV show and got re-connected with your long lost relatives)

You are about to release a new record, and you sold your first t shirt (with your name on it, which is pretty strange) a month ago. You sold a bunch more since then. Remember when you were afraid of talking in class? Or to sing in front of your best friend?

You’ve been learning guitar and writing songs to heal for 10 years now. You’ve been playing in public for about 5 years. You started busking on the street and since then you’ve played in a bunch of different places!

Remember when you thought you were going to die? Remember when you were in and out of the hospital for a year? Remember how you didn’t give up and re-learned how to walk after 1 year of crutches and physical therapy?

You’re strong. You’re kind. When more problems come, keep breathing. Take your time.

Nothing lasts forever. Good or bad. But you can always find the light!

Don’t give up. Follow your dreams. Be kind. Care. Leap. Do Good.
