This was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. 🤍

Shawn and I had so many reasons for choosing to sing The Blessing at our wedding and I wanted to share.

We met when we were younger, but somehow, our worlds kept putting us in the same places throughout our early 20s. Eventually, we found ourselves on the same schedule, leading worship together. And from the very first time we sang together, there was something so undeniable about it.

Funny enough, the song was supposed to happen before we said “I Do” but Pastor got a little ahead of himself. That mistake turned out to be more beautiful to us in the end because now it was the very first thing we did as husband and wife. But I never could have known just how much this song would come to mean to us.

The year before our wedding, my Taia (my mom’s dad) was in his final days. I sang many songs to him but this one hit different this time. Then, when we sang it at his funeral, it felt like one of the most honoring things I could have done for him.

Taia was the reason I know Jesus. I am the third generation in my family to know the love of God because of the faith he passed down to us. He was also a musician, songwriter and a beautiful violinist, which is part of the reason we chose to have a string quartet at our wedding.

So standing there, hearing those strings, singing this song with Shawn, and knowing where that song had already taken me… it honestly felt like a little piece of heaven.

And now, watching this video back, I see Shawn’s grandma Anita sitting there.

Around our anniversary last year, she passed away. But the day before she died, Shawn and I went to see her, and she asked us to sing the song we sang at our wedding.

So we sang it for her.

And somehow, this one song just keeps becoming part of the most sacred moments of our lives. It became a reminder of the faith we inherited, the people who taught us to love Jesus, the people we’ve had to say goodbye to, and the beautiful promise that God’s presence has been with us through every season.

🎻🎤Shoutout to our beautiful musician friends who helped fill the room with their incredible talents. Blessed.
