Campout Spotlight: Big Earl & the Cryin’ Shame @bigearlsings

Great friends and ambassadors of the blues this festival, Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame is a West Coast blues band from right down the road in Modesto, California. Featuring the heavy-duty vocal stylings of “Big” Earl Matthews and guitar standouts Eli Lester and Jason Finley, The Cryin’ Shame have built their music on a sturdy foundation of 50’s Chicago style blues infused with infectious funk rhythms that have been filling dance floors since 2007. The Shame have had the pleasure of opening for such well known acts as Charlie Musselwhite, Chris Cain, Greg “Fingers” Taylor, and BB King.

Big Earl and the Cryin’ Shame will be performing on Friday afternoon, September 25th, at The Good Luck Campout. Don’t miss out! Get your tickets at the campout website, link in bio

Thank you SO, SO much to all the Gravel & Grace listeners out there - we've gotten about 130,000 streams across platforms this year! Sudden, unexpected, totally welcome.

I never thought that I'd be sitting here, six years after making this album, watching this happen.

I was fourteen years old when I met Earl, and he immediately wanted to make music together. I was horrified - and rightfully so. It was challenging! I grew SO much as a vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter because of these people. I used to throw up right before I performed because I was nervous about the handful of people minding their business in a coffee shop while I played. Gravel & Grace changed everything for me. They treated me like an adult while still giving me grace (no pun intended) for being a hormonal teenager.

There's going to be a longer, mushier version of this post on Facebook, so go check it out if you're into that sort of thing.

For those that still haven't given this album a listen - what are you waiting for? 👀

Shout-out to followers in Mexico - if there's ever a G&G reunion tour, we'll have to come play a show for y'all!

🎶 This weekend at The Queen Bean is all about the music. M&M Productions presents a Summer Music Festival you don’t want to miss this Saturday!

We’re throwing down with blues, bluegrass, and soul! Big Earl, Ava Grace, The Sipsey River Band, and Cody Singh with Tony Curci are all hitting the stage. It’s $10 at the door, music starts at 4, and there will be ample supplies of hot coffee, cold drinks, and great company.

Then on Sunday, we are excited to have Nathan Ignacio at Melodies & Mimosas. He’s a one-man band with stories in his strings and a harmonica in his mouth! Grab a mimosa and settle in—this one’s from 11 to 1.

Come for the music, stay for the magic.
