No Comeback is now streaming everywhere. This is the first single for my upcoming album entitled Ballerino. The single art is a photo taken by my brother @healthyphoto and I just love it. It shows @bigegostudios in all its glory.

Ballerino is a character with many vices and personal horrors but he means well and I’m glad @tristandolce and I brought him to life. I can’t wait for you to hear more.

Meow, meow, meow, the cat’s out of the bag…and there will be no comeback.

John Seman returns to the mic Sunday night with a Gentle Giant mini-celebration, propelled by reissues of two classic albums from the mid-1970s. We’ll trace their prog rock lineage through intermediaries like Phil Minton and @V.Vecker on to new albums by mssv, CSTMR and others. And we’ll have several Northwest progressive musicians in the mix as well, including Dave Abramson and the Seven Colors trio. Finally, we’ll continue our memorial tribute to James Blood Ulmer with help from the Rashied Ali Quintet, recorded contemporaneously with the iconic Gentle Giant tracks.

Sunday, August 9, 10pm–Midnight PDT (GMT -7), on 91.3 @KBCS Bellevue/Seattle/Tacoma (streaming at KBCS.FM). Available in podcast format (with HQ audio) at Mixcloud.com. Creative and improvised music from the Northwest and around the world.

Tomorrow is my 49th birthday and I wanted to take a few minutes to let folks know what I’ve been going through for the last year of my life. It’s a little long but I’ve been waiting...

I opened my recording studio, BIG EGO, in 2016. I happily ran my small business through the ownership of two different landlords. In late 2024 the property was sold again and on June 1st, 2025, my new landlord locked me out of BIG EGO falsely claiming my lease was forged. The judge saw it otherwise and on June 2nd, issued a temporary restraining order against the landlord and his agents enjoining them from interfering with my lease and returning possession of the studio.

Despite the court order, the landlord has continued to wrongfully interfere with my possession and use of the studio in violation of the order in what appears to be an ongoing course of action seeking to drive me out of the studio. I have not done a single paying session at the studio in 13 months and my legal bills are nearly $100,000.

I have not spoken about the details publicly for a number of reasons but here is a brief (and I mean brief) timeline of events over the last year.

After the restraining order was issued, in July 2025, the landlord instructed his agent to remove my rear security door was from the building. Despite power having been cut to the studio, my alarm went off before anyone could break in. LBPD responded, took evidence, a report, and provided escort while I reattached the door. Had my alarm not gone off, the studio and everything in it would have been vulnerable to theft…

I have posted the rest of this update and a current video walkthrough of the studio over at the GoFundMe page. The link is in the bio.

Some bands go on tour. Other bands *really* go on tour. mssv falls in the latter category. In 2025, their 69-date trip was crammed into about that many days, as the trio traveled tirelessly from state to state, from continent to continent. But maybe that kind of work ethic is to be expected when you’ve got the legendary Mike Watt in the ranks. Somehow, in between all that jamming econo, mssv (which also features ace guitarist Mike Baggetta and veteran drummer Stephen Hodges) found time to record their fourth LP at Chris Schlarb’s BIG EGO studio in Long Beach, CA. See You Through might be my favorite mssv LP yet; it’s lean and mean, scratchy and catchy, sounding at times like the Minutemen attempting a righteous cover of Neil Young’s Zuma. As you might expect from a band that tours so hard, the interplay is downright telepathic, changing moods and grooves at will, locking in and wilding out.
