Made from the outer skirt layer of my Mumโ€™s wedding dress & converted into the ceremony piece I wore to walk down the aisle to say โ€œI doโ€ last summerโค๏ธ The original wedding gown was completely deconstructed so that the organza skirt layer could be used to construct the sleeves, bodice & train of the duster. The original lace appliqueฬs maintained their positioning on the fabric and were worked into the design. 20โ€ fringe was added from the waist down around the circumstance of the train for an updated bohemian dramatic effect. โœจWearing this again for my maternity shoot gave this piece extra special significance all around. 3 generations of love captured here ๐Ÿ’ž @sossdiaries ๐Ÿ“ธphotography: @dear_jenna_photography

In March of 2020, nearly a year and a half after we first laid our eyes on this blank slate of land that met all the marks...the stars finally aligned and we closed on 54 acres of our long awaited dream. We had finally managed to secure the land for our business in the Western Mountains of Maine. It was there that Jay had proposed to me, which was now (officially) the destination of our wedding; the first of many celebrations weโ€™d envisioned would come thereafter. Once the snow cleared, preparations began. The parcel in its initial state contained a beautifully constructed 1/2 mile driveway that switchbacked to the top of our wooded lot, where we now were faced with the task of clearing ceremony and reception spots. Work began May 24th and in an unfathomable 2-1/2 months, with the gracious help of family and friends, peppered with setbacks that were buoyed by mini triumphs, we pulled together the beginning of @BigelowOutdoorPartners โ€˜ first event, our wedding. 2020 may have brought about a lot of challenges, but in a lot of waysโ€ฆit also showed us what weโ€™re made of. For Jay and I particularly, it brought about some of the greatest life changes we had ever experienced. In February of 2020, we formed our LLC @BigelowOutdoorPartners , a business we had dreamt up before making plans to pack up our Brooklyn apartment and head homeward bound to our rightful roots in Maine. Since moving back in August of 2018, in our spare time outside of house renovations, my design hustle @BigelowBride and working for my fatherโ€™s manufacturing business @ProKnee (I in Marketing and Jay in Sales), weโ€™d been quietly working away on a business plan that encompassed not only our passions, but our shared love for the outdoors, people and basicallyโ€ฆ any reason to celebrate. The business? A mountain-view event venue with offerings for guided Maine adventure tours and custom wedding dress design services. After that initial conversation of deciding to move back to Maine, we didnโ€™t know the when or exactly what would determine the why to the when. But shortly thereafter, that plan came to us. Getting ready one brisk Brooklyn morning in late Fall 2017, I burst into the kitchen. With a toothbrush slurring my words I managed to get out, โ€œJay, Iโ€™ve got a crazy idea!!!โ€ In normal, cool, yet optimistically cautious-of-Jordanโ€™s-crazy-ideas-Jay openly exclaimed, โ€œHit me with it.โ€ โ€œWhat if instead of paying to rent a barn venue for our wedding someday (we were not engaged at the time, but spoke of these dreams openly and often); we instead put that money towards making our own venue... in the mountains... of Maine... where we can build a business and life together!โ€ Thinking he would immediately shut that crazy morning concoction down, to my delight Jay enthusiastically replied, โ€œthatโ€™s not crazy at all. We could totally do that!โ€ Reinvigorated at the thought of a new challenge to conquer, a new chapter to expand ourselves in, the seed was firmly planted. That conversation was all it took. Shortly following it, we decided we would leave the city when our lease was up that very July of 2018. Now to find the parcel of land that would make this vision a reality. By Jayโ€™s 39th birthday in the Spring of โ€˜18, our trips home became dedicated to squeezing in land scouting from New Sharon to Eustis, Maine.
