THANK YOU to all of the artists and friends who came to the debut show at THE DUNGEON 🖤🖤🖤 Looking forward to the next one! Special shout-out to @andrewartworks__ for the great photos! “The black and white arrow points a painted tip down to THE DUNGEON. A tight staircase, dug into a pit of concrete, leads to the doorway of a basement. Inside, a sea of shoes scatters across laminated stone, and above them a lace curtain waves its welcome. A peek behind the panel reveals unexpected treasure: gems of sensation supple in texture, saturated in color, and seductive in subject. The kitchen counters are crowded with conversations, the couches draped with dramatic diatribes. Painters and sculptors pose in front of their pieces for a photograph. The pop-up show came together from a poster hastily photoshopped and posted on social media. Eleven artists delivered their depictions of traps and torture: fleshy paintings opened up to wounds. Bodies became enclosed in the borders of their frame. Spotlights—their coiled cords clipped to the narrow windows—sent hot waves of warm light across the room to hit the cold, slimy surfaces of sculptures suggestive of spoil and decay.”
