All roads lead to the Twin Cities, MN for the @4learningedu RemixEd Conference this week at @hsraminnesota ! This year’s theme is: Creativity As A Civic Power and you can feel that theme weaved through the entire experience. Greatful to co-present a Deep Dive session alongside my sister in the movement @iammarthadiaz . We’ll be focused on: Remixing The Blueprint: Co-Creating The National Hip-Hop Education Guidelines & Index. Sharing some of the work that the @hiphopeducationcenter has done over the past few years to gather this resource and more. If you’re in MN this week pull up!

What if we prepared the next generation to create opportunities, not just compete for them?
That was the bigger conversation at New Pathways: Chicago 2026 | From Expression to Enterprise.

Two days bringing together education, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation to explore how young people can turn their ideas and abilities into real-world opportunities.

Theres' a lesson for organizations too: innovation mrans little without the skills, support and systems to make it work.

Appreciation to @getting_smart, @futurefounders @britebound, @incubatoredu_official and @artinmotionchi for helping move this conversation forward.

The New York Performance Standards Consortium is excited to be part of a new effort to remake educational accountability. After 30 years of largely diminishing returns, “accountability” centered on test-based compulsion has negatively impacted the students and communities it was intended to benefit, undermining educational quality by focusing on the rise and fall of an excessively narrow set of educational outcomes, and reinforcing rather than fixing inequities.

Educational Accountability Remade (EAR) is a group of local, state-level, and national innovators that includes policy leaders, researchers, psychometricians, and practitioners leading this work on the ground. Real accountability isn’t accomplished by top-down compulsion, but through mutual assent. In a series of papers addressing certain “tentpoles” of accountability, EAR confronts prevailing assumptions that hold the current system in place and suggests robust and viable alternatives to ensure school quality and student learning based on existing successful examples, from New York (that’s us!), Kentucky, New Mexico and Virginia. EAR recognizes that we must listen to what young people tell us they need, and build a new tent.

Check out eduaccountablity.org to learn more about the organizers, read the papers on system “tentpoles” and join the conversation.
