Welcome to BIGshot! Targets for the next generation... #bigshottargets

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The most important shot of your entire practice session might be the FIRST ONE. 🏹🎯

Think about it...

You're sitting in your deer stand. A mature buck finally steps into range. Your heart is racing.

You don't get to shoot 5 arrows to loosen up. You don't get a second chance to make your first shot count.

That's why I think every bowhunter should practice that first cold shot!

💬 Agree or disagree? Is your FIRST arrow your most important?

📲 SEND THIS to your hunting buddy who always needs a few warm-up shots! 😂

@j_rod_adventure_archery Help! In all seriousness, the new Mathews Arc is such an impressive bow. Can’t wait to see this thing in the wild.

🏹 CHALLENGE TWO | HUNTING

This year, we took the Hunting Challenge back to the basics.

With 30 minutes of instruction from @danny_graves_nakedandafraid, survivalists learned how to build their own primitive bows and arrows before putting their skills to the test.

THE BUILD | 60 MINUTES

Each team had one hour to build two bamboo longbows and ten arrows using the materials provided.

THE CHALLENGE | 75 SECONDS

With five arrows & one long bow per survivalist, teams moved through five archery stations:

🎯 Station 1-3: Three life sized animal targets. Points were awarded based on shot placement.

🎯 Station 4: A moving target, one shot to make it count.

🎯 Station 5: The long distance shot. One final arrow to see just how far their handmade bow can shoot.

Building a bow is one thing. Building one that actually performs under pressure is another.

60 minutes to build. 90 seconds to compete.

Who do you think had the advantage in this challenge: an experienced archer or an experienced bushcrafter? 🤔

Had to shoot some foam to get some confidence back after last night! The shot was 💯 my fault. Either didn’t range correctly or the doe fever got the better of me. Either way I want to be ready for the next opportunity!
