Truthfully and honestly, it was cold as 💩 this morning and I didn’t want to get up. But I knew @bigstan333g was meeting me at the gym so I rolled out of bed and dragged myself there…. #accountability

Working out at 04:30AM has taught me a lot about myself… I have a true hate and love relationship with it… I hate having to freeze until I’m in the car with heater on… I hate having to wake up and drive… but even that’s enough on the hate side to annoy myself with hating the process… #perspective

I love the sound of an empty gym… I love when I don’t have to wait to use machines…. I love the way I feel after exercising and challenging myself… I love the results… I could go on and on about the things I love about this lifestyle… #gratitude

Hit Chest this morning w/ @bigstan333g in The Valley of The Beast @ironaddictsgym #noplacelikehome

Home, a sanctuary where the heart finds rest…

a place where we return to our natural balance…

like plants rooted in familiar soil.

Homeostasis of the soul,

where we flourish in discomfort,
grow in resistance,
and where we learn to
create and cultivate our own peace…

Early bird gets the “Big Back” 🐛🦅😂

These days I don’t have a lot of time so normally my morning sessions with members of the tribe (@simplificarco) are finished within an hour. During sessions, we discuss form and cues to help when lifting weight to avoid injury. Proper hip positioning is crucial for safe and effective execution, especially as weights increase.

We hit some back this day but were really focusing on core stability and increasing muscular endurance in different postures (low hips)
______
Notes:
Key Benefits That Coincide Across Bent-Over Rows, Pull-Ups, and Hanging Leg Raises
1. Improved Core Stability
• All three exercises require significant engagement of the core muscles for stability.
• Bent-over rows require core activation to maintain posture and avoid rounding the lower back.
• Pull-ups and hanging leg raises both activate the core to stabilize the body as it moves.
2. Enhanced Upper Body Strength
• Bent-over rows strengthen the lats, rhomboids, traps, and rear deltoids.
• Pull-ups target the lats, traps, and biceps.
• Hanging leg raises engage grip strength and activate the upper body as a stabilizer.
3. Increased Functional Strength and Posture
• These exercises collectively improve posture and functional strength by reinforcing the muscles of the posterior chain, shoulders, and midsection, leading to better alignment and reduced risk of injury.

Importance of Keeping Hips Low and Anchored in Bent-Over Rows
1. Prevents Lower Back Strain
• Keeping hips low & stable help maintain a neutral spine, reducing stress on the lumbar region and minimizing the risk of injury.
2. Optimizes Muscle Engagement
• Anchoring hips allow for a controlled hinge at the hips, targeting the lats, rhomboids, and traps more effectively.
• “Engaging” prevents compensatory movements, such as excessive momentum or shoulder shrugging.
3. Promotes Proper Alignment
• stable hip position ensures the weight is evenly distributed, enabling efficient power transfer from the core to the pulling muscles.
• alignment ensures joint health and allows for progressive overload without compromising form.

As a fitness professional, a general question I get from a lot of people is: what is the best exercise I can be doing in the gym to hit my goals?

My general answer is, (for the general population / most adults) goals are fleeting… and once we hit them, then what?

If there's any goal, the goal should be longevity…

Longevity is the name of the game as we age in life…

As we evolve, the ways we view how we exercise should also…

Exercise doesn't always have to mean getting the gym, starting where you are and getting 1% better a day still counts as progress…

Sometimes, just getting out for the walk is progress,

The key is to find what's realistic and fun for you…

These days, my exercise routine is comprised of balanced modalities like:
- weight training (2-3 days)
- yoga
- hiking
- cycling
- sports I loved growing up
- dancing
- stretching (30 mins minimum 1-2x weekly)

Some important questions to ask yourself when
making decisions on exercise are:

🏃How do I feel after doing this form of exercise?
🏃Is this form of exercise realistic for my lifestyle?
🏃What are my goals?

Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

Its the 4th Day of 2024 and the Tribe has been putting in that work 🔥💪🏾. I hope you’re getting to your goals this year, I know we are @simplyfatco
_
Here’s some great advice from a mentor of mine ( @theimmortalmavrick ) that I’d thought I’d share:

1. Set a goal
2. Develop structure
3. Create a budget for your time.
_
(My Goals)
1. I Impact my community by helping others transform their lives through wellness modalities that fuel growth in mind, body, and spirit connection. (My experience comes from my personal journey as a competitor in Collegiate & Professional athletics, while other forms of my experience come from evidence based practice that I have studied and become certified in through continued education and advanced study… but my experience is what I love to refer back to and share.)

2. Members of the tribe normally train 2-3 times weekly in person and online. Members of the tribe also budget their time wisely when inside the gym so we don’t waste time trying to figure it out on YouTube.
I’m available to train and coach individuals serious about their goals and attaining them (normally adults in the early mornings, and youth in the afternoons, I do also take private clients when I have availability)

3. The current OPEN AVAILABILITY FOR ADULTS AND YOUTH in semi private settings are as followed:

- Fellas Tuesday/Thursday 630AM-11AM, & Saturday 7-830AM.
- Ladies Tuesday 7AM, Wednesday 7AM, Fridays 9AM/10AM,
- Youth Fridays 5PM (& Some Sundays 3PM)

_
These 3 things alone have helped me refocus and begin to reengineer my productivity and day-to-day to operate more in a manner of my choice; everything else aligns after…
_
As individuals, We can all be resourceful when given the right tools, but it doesn’t happen until we apply and try what we are learning to assist in development.

Just some great advice I thought I’d share, what you do with the rest is what “You choose”… Be well 💪🏾

Big pull day w /
@kingempireoflb &
@bigstan333g 💪🏾

We’ve been focusing heavily on efficiency in the gym lately. As men, we don’t always have all the time in the world to be in the gym, but when we do, we need to be able to zone in and focus on how we hack away at the goals. Building a big back, has been important for the fellas. We all want to be able to do pull ups on demand, and there are ways to get there without doing sh#tty reps….

Here’s a snippet of just one of our efficient routines we incorporate in the Mens Group Training Circuit 💪🏾🔥

_

Try this Cable Routine
Cable Row 15-20 (rest 1 min)
Repeat 10-12 Rounds.

A new survey by “Better” found that a lack of time and a lack of confidence are the main reasons people give for not going to the gym

Support and Accountability from a group or tribe
are always helpful in accomplishing any goal.

It's important to surround yourself with people that align with similar missions on their own path.
_
After all, Steel sharperns steel.
_
Studies show group workouts help:
1) Hold yourself accountable.
2)Add variety to your workout.
3)Build/ become part of a community/ Tribe.
4)Help demonstrating Form and proper techniques to prevent injury.
5) Find motivation and inspiration when we don't have it.
