First attempt at my New Years Resolution with a January & February recap… Definitely going to need to be more conscious still of documenting things but excited to get the ball rolling!

Always a slow time of year but boozy brunches and valentines getaways made for a fun time. On a more serious note, celebrated birthdays and anniversaries. We shared the news we’ll be welcoming a son and I even felt him move for the first time. True highlight. Welcomed back old friends and celebrated new ones. Great start to 2025!

Die Happy, Amskray’s first studio album, started coming together in 2017 as rough demos sent back and forth between singer and guitarist Don Scherr and keyboardist Jake Hughes. In late 2018, the demos were brought to life with parts added by drummer Chase Schutter and bassist Brendan Lee.

Despite everything coming to a halt in 2020, Die Happy began tracking in May with help from Brian DiMeglio, who engineered the drums and guitars in Brooklyn, NY. Tracking was completed in Aug 2021 in Nashville, TN with Kevin Ann Dye who produced and engineered the vocals. Mixing was also done by Kevin Ann, whose talents were only further brought to life by mastering engineer Mike Kalajian.

Die Happy is an ambitious record with a unique blend of influences, built on nostalgia for the bands the members grew up listening to with a developed sense of urgency, innovation and thought-provoking lyrics they feel represents them.

The track is a bit different for us and draws heavy influence from #dub #reggae and bands we grew up listening to. You know ya gotta try something new every once in a while…

Produced/directed by @recycledfishfood
Mixed by @kevinanndye
Mastered by @kalajianofdoom
