#onthisday 2015 I biked one hundred miles around Lake Tahoe at @bikethewest #AMBBR with @teamintraining. It would be my longest ride until I did another hundred in training for @ironmantri #IMAZ in 2018.

One ride. One team. One dream. A world without cancer.

Collectively Team Survivor raised just under $130K and Team in Training athlete participants from all over the US raised $2.6M in the fight against blood cancers. Our ride today around Lake Tahoe was our victory lap to honor those who continue to fight and in memory of our friends who’ve lost their battle. Thank you to each of our donors who supported us in this fight!

Pickle juice, anyone? This morning TRPA staff got up before dawn to set up and run an aid station for #americasmostbeautifulbikeride in Tahoe City. Thousands of Lycra clad riders supporting the @llsusa were all smiles as they grabbed pieces of fruit and granola bars on their century ride or 72 mile lap Aarons the lake. These folks are certainly getting an edge for #tahoebikemonth. How many miles have you logged so far?

Commuter

I commute by bicycle as often as possible. My travels usually go from home to paddle Yoga, studio, to beach yoga, and back. About 10 years ago I found the best shoe for doing so: the Keen Commuter. It is a sandal with an SPD clip. I wear these shoes every day. They have been repaired a half dozen times and might be on their last leg. So few things last forever and these have been discontinued (I wish they’d bring them back). I know this pair has a little life left in them. I truly value all that they have allowed me to do while wearing them.

Tour De Tahoe 2022., America's Most Beautiful Ride. Took a while getting to ride this one. Delayed twice, once due to COVID and 2nd was a forest fire. Wasn't the best weather but it was still fun. Would totally do it again.

Well, I’d love to blame the late night dueling piano outing with Dr. J, but Mother Nature has yet again bestowed her sense of humor with non-stop rain during our ride. So instead of going the full-hundo, many of us opted for 72 miles and a nice hot shower sooner rather than later. 😂

Nonetheless, Team Survivor survived a chilly and rainy AMBBR, and we shall be back again in 2023 with the hopes of better weather and continue raising much needed funds for blood cancer research.

I refreshed some of the achievement stickers. It's been ten years since my first 13.1 and I've done a whole lot since then.

This was our first year volunteering tech support for the Death Ride. Yesterday we were there for the sign in expo at Turtle Rock. It was shaping up to be a nice event. Then we watched as the Tamarack fire grew. We hoped the winds would die down and the fire would subside for the ride on Saturday. Unfortunately, the fire took a turn for the worse. The ride was cancelled. We were immediately evacuated. It all happened very quickly. We feel very lucky to have gotten out of there safely. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Markleeville residents and their families. A special thanks to the @calfire, all the first responders, ride organizers, and @tgft for making some tough calls and getting everyone out safely. ❤️❤️ We look forward to next years event!
