I was incredibly lucky to be invited to teach at Millinery MeetUp in Gatlinburg, Tennessee — a wonderful gathering of more than 60 hat enthusiasts who came together to learn, create and celebrate our shared love of millinery. I was part of a fantastic team of international tutors, including @edwinaIbbotson, @bilianaborissova, @maorzabarhats and myself, each bringing our own techniques and ideas to an inspiring few days of making. Before the courses began, I managed to squeeze in a couple of days exploring the area and fully immersed myself in Dolly Country! The beautiful Smoky Mountains, country & western music, bear sightings… and, of course, a little shopping. I may have returned home with two pairs of cowboy boots and a Stetson! 🤠 Our home for the week was Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, where we were completely spoilt with incredible facilities and huge, beautifully equipped classrooms. I taught Feather Fireworks, Crin Brims, Buntal Boaters and Painted Abaca Flowers, and loved getting to know every one of my students. There was plenty of hard work and creativity, but also so much laughter. We even compiled an ever-growing list of English/Jenny-isms on the classroom board for posterity — apparently I say rather more unusual things than I realised! 😂 And the fun certainly didn’t stop when classes finished. We had a fabulous Dolly Parton-themed opening party sponsored by @judithmsupply an evening tutor panel and Q&A, and a brilliant hat competition and fashion show with a ‘Fruit’ theme, which we had the pleasure (and difficult job!) of judging. Our final evening was a wonderful celebration of the friendships made over the week and the thing that had brought us all together — a shared passion for all things hats. A huge thank you to @millinerymeetup@warpedmindmilliner and @AndreaBlohm for bringing such a special event together, to the wonderful catering team who looked after us so brilliantly, to my fellow tutors, and most of all to all the fabulous students who brought so much enthusiasm, talent and fun to my classes. I came home exhilarated, inspired, incredibly grateful and with my cup very much overflowing. ❤️

I cannot say in words what an amazing and wonderful event Millinery Meet up is. The opportunity for so many students to get together in one place and study at the incredible facilities on offer at Arrowmount School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg Tennessee is like no other in the millinery world. The array of techniques offered by the various tutors gives opportunities for complete novices to those with years of experience, who want to brush up on their skills. It is always so lovely to spend time with old faces and meet new students alike. Thank you to all who joined any of my classes, it was an absolute pleasure to share a few Tips and tricks with you all. A massive Thank you and congratulations to both @millinerymeetup @warpedmindmilliner and @andreamblohm for all their hard work and so many hours they put in to make MMU such a great Success.
