Mental health is not enough.

There. I said it.

One day I was walking through the halls of a professional football franchise with the head coach.

We walked down the hall by the training room. Of course I’m familiar with these rooms. Ankles get bandaged up, iced packs are applied, and muscles stretched. A lot of care gets administered here—physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Hear me… it definitely is needed. Many say mental health is actually the priority. A case can be made for that.

But what I’m proposing is that it’s only part “A” of a 2-part sequence.

It’s hard to win consistently when you’re constantly playing defense.

As we approached the weight room, we heard the clinks and clanks of iron on iron and the thuds of dumbbells being cushioned by the rubber mats. As we entered the weight room—where players get stronger, I turned to the head coach and said, “This is what I do. I train these guys minds to get stronger.” He instantly tightened his lips and nodded his head— he understood the point.

Mental performance is about mental strength. Getting stronger by building mental muscle.

Resilience isn’t an exercise, it’s an outcome. It’s a result of multiple mental and emotional skills that constantly need attention to stay strong.

Mental health and mental performance isn’t an either/or proposition. It’s a both/and.

Mental performance is part “B”—it’s the mind gym.

Mental performance makes athletes, business owners, and leaders better and stronger. #mindset #mindsetmatters #elitemindset #mentalperformance #footballcoach #footballcoaching #sportscoach #positivecoaching #positivecoachingalliance #mentalhealth #mentalstrength #mentalstrengthtraining

If you're a New England Patriots fan or just overall football fan watch Dynasty on Appletv. It's extremely well done and showcases just how intuitive coach Bill Belichick was. He absolutely made and molded Tom Brady.

Let's end the debate that Brady made Belichick because Belichick won the first 3 Super Bowls single handedly. It's a great show.
