37 today. 🎂

My annual birthday post to mark the end of a period in my life before I begin another.
-
This year was filled with a sense of completion, gratitude and relief. After many years of being stuck in a state of flux and not knowing where I or my work was at, I feel for the first time in a long while that I’ve taken steps forward in life.
-
This began when I had my exhibition Saturated Edge @8wallgallery and was finally able to present a series that had been in limbo for so long. More than the images themselves, it allowed me to gain more perspective on myself as an artist and what I needed to continue working towards.
-
The other large accomplishment was getting my first apartment in NYC. Establishing roots here enabled me to have a home and settle in one place, which hasn’t been the case for a long time. I was relieved that I didn’t need to constantly be on the move.
-
Between all the personal flux and exhibitions I’ve presented over the past few years, I decided to slow down a bit as well. I spent most of the year getting my life situated and becoming further acquainted with NYC and my friendships here.
-
I never slowed my creativity, but now that I’ve gotten a better sense of where I’m at in life, I’m more excited for what I will be able to accomplish in year 37. There’s a lot I want to achieve, and I feel that nothing will stop me from reaching my goals. Here’s to another year of continued growth as a creative and individual.

Thank you @tiffanyandco for having me as your Artist in Residence 🩵 for your week with the High Jewellery Caravan in Sydney. It was a dream to have a mini studio set up, surrounded by cascades of florals inspired by Bunny Mellon’s gardens, one of a kind, ornate Tiffany’s jewellery pieces and divine guests to co-create intuitively colored artworks live for.

a week immersed in colors, romance, soft curves of the flowers, personalities, petals and more… when I’m making live artworks for people, it is an intuitive act, full of connection and translation - keeping a conversation alive, imbuing a floral piece that is chosen from their memories and suddenly a work filled with their personality has been made in minutes. Such joy and who knows what one off fantasy floral will appear!

As I’m often in my studio solo on and off, a week of being present and practicing a new level of creative patience was a treasure in itself!

Some days I made Japanese ikebana inspired pieces, others I was given free rein to make fantasy florals from my imagination - ahem Tiffany’s blue orchids? Delish! People have very soft memories when asked about florals - and they most often felt like gifting them which was very sweet. Thoughtful gestures and passing on love -

The guests are not shown, as this is a private guest event- but it was beautiful to meet some of the people I’ve been creating commissions for with @tiffanyandco this past year and a half - a create collaborative relationship that’s very much in bloom! Yes I made a bad floral joke 😉

Honourable mentions to the elegance and hilarity, peels of laughter with @emmaread whom I was working along side for the week- we worked as editors at @grazia Australia in another life and it was like nothing had changed x

Thank you for adorning my lobes in your new Hardware Earrings too x
