No costume? No problem. I was walking on canal street and saw two really big rolls of paper tape. Nice colors. (The visors were something I was pushing at the time as protection from acid rain.) And so a look was born. One thing is for sure - NEVER AGAIN. I came close to passing out from the rigid restraint it created. Breathing deeply was impossible. I neared panic as we waited. We cut each other free minutes after this photo by @stevenkleinstudio was taken for @interviewmag.

I can’t believe I blew through the whole 5 million. Where did it go? Taxi’s, make-up, candy, glasses - glasses can be real high. Damn. Lesson learned, Ed! Gotta get a powerball ticket for Friday…get signed up for the new HGTV Dreamhome…that would help. Oh and I have to get that Furby up on eBay. It could go over 35. #backtozero #publishersclearinghouse #powerball #hgtvdreamhome #edmcmahon Photo by Charlie Altuna.

A detail from a photo by @david_lachapelle for Interview Magazine 1985. The suits were by Diane Pernet, @ashadedviewonfashion, the hairstylist was Erik Gregg and the makeup was by Paul Alexander, @opaltuesday. My first time modeling fashion and well, I guess it just took. 🤣

Another beautiful moment as seen by @david_lachapelle. This was 1985 in The Kenny Scharf Room of The Palladium in NYC. It’s available light so hold that and don’t move - but the result has so much motion. David’s techniques I started to understand about thirty years later. Using the meter inside the camera right up close to the face then stepping back again to shoot - back and forth quickly, always checking and adjusting - sometimes moving the camera in ways that are still a mystery to me, all the while he was also laughing, singing, directing and encouraging the model. It was pure fun then but now I see it was also making good art.

Something’s smoldering. Time travel modeling for @david_lachapelle circa 1986. The jacket is Rachel Auburn and the hairstyling is by @layladangelo. David did amazing things in the dark and printed all his own work. Dodge and burn, kids. Something’s smoldering.
