Sending a huge shout out to Sarah Schulman on the launch of her 6th season of FIRST MONDAYS at Performance Space New York.

It was standing room only last Monday night at this packed event with so many of my favorite people. "First Mondays" is an evening of readings from new works- in- progress curated by Sarah, and it never fails to enrich and introduce me to new and intriguing writers and their works.

Last Monday we were treated to excerpts from "The Lesbian Body" by Monique Wittig (what a treat) and the readers included:

Zaina Arafat, Harriet Clark, Cat Fitzpatrick, Gayatri Gopinath, Rachel Levitsky, Claudia Rankine, Giada Scodellaro, Parul Sehgal, Bina Sharif, Pamela Sneed, Sara Jane Stoner, Jeanne Thornton.

New York City…i really felt the love for my book launch 🚀🧿

for those who don’t know my lore, i left a job i LOVED in queer mental health in Australia in 2019 because if i stayed any longer on that well-paid career trajectory i knew i’d never leave it, and my CALLING to publish a novel would recede to a lofty childhood dream i once had. on tuesday night, almost 7 years to the day since my departure from Aus, the wisdom of that little weirdo who’d cut class in elementary school to climb trees where i could read my library books in peace was finally vindicated. though i remain largely allergic to earnestness i do have to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made this moment possible…you know who you are
