What happens when you get two 7 year old hockey players together?

They obviously go tiptoeing in their BAUERS.

Hockey teaches our kids so much more than just how to play a game. 🏒❤️

It teaches them dedication, discipline, hard work, resilience, respect, and what it truly means to be part of a team.

It teaches them to show up even when they’re tired, to push through the tough days, to celebrate their teammates’ successes, and to pick themselves back up after a loss.

It teaches them that nothing worth having comes easy, that hard work doesn’t always mean immediate results, and that sometimes the biggest victories have nothing to do with the scoreboard.

We’re not just raising hockey players. We’re raising strong, determined, hardworking kids who are learning lessons they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives.

And that, to me, is what makes this sport so special. ❤️🏒

What you see is the hockey player.

What you don’t see are the early mornings when his friends are still sleeping. The late nights when everyone else is already in bed. The extra training, the discipline, learning to fuel his body properly, and taking care of himself at just 7 years old.

Bennet “Bird” Watson. #8. ❤️🏒

ADHD can make certain parts of being a young athlete harder for Bennet. Focus, routine and regulating all that energy don’t always come as easily — and sometimes, his hardest looks different than someone else’s.

But that’s what makes me so proud of him.

He keeps showing up. He keeps working. He keeps trying. Even on the days when it’s harder for him than anyone watching could ever know.

At 7 years old, I don’t care about perfection. I care about effort. I care about resilience. I care that when something is hard, he keeps finding a way to come back and try again.

There is so much that happens behind the highlights.

My sweet Bird started hockey at just 2 years old. Now at 6, he’d be on the ice 7 days a week if we’d let him. His love for the game grows stronger every single day. 🏒❤️

A huge thank you to Mike at @advantagehphockey for investing so much time in Bennet over the years. Your patience, encouragement, and guidance have played such a big role in his development—not just as a hockey player, but as a young athlete. We’re incredibly grateful for everything you do!
