Truly the most insane necklace I have had the privilege of making! Alyssa came to me with the concept for her summer solstice wedding, the vibes; dripping gold. We used a stone her husband found when he was as a kid, and two rutile quartz to match her engagement ring I made a year ago! We encrusted the bezels in Alaskan gold nuggets, and used a vintage change from 1930! I’m so so in love with piece! Thank you Alyssa for always allowing me so much creativity in your customs!

As I emerge from my post-Folk Fest feels, I thought I’d take part in the tradition of sharing this year’s lessons and celebrations.

1. If you find out that one of your favorite humans is winning a giant award, just use the fucking airline miles. Kat, I’m so glad to have known you for almost half of your life of achievements.
2. Sisterhood gets more and more sacred as time goes on. Also, if you write Beth Chrisman a super emotional sister song, she’ll make you play it in front of people a lot. Be ready.
3. If you need to bribe a front desk clerk to get a piano unlocked at 1AM, it’s always worth it. Also, the smaller jam is always a little better than the big party (personal preference)
4. Sing songs with Bobo any chance you get. Then go home and listen to a lot of John Hartford.
5. Folk Fest is a really great way to turn a magical acquaintance into a real friend! Make sure to get their phone number so it sticks!
6. If you don’t arrive until Saturday, the back half of Folk Fest is way easier.
7. When you’re usually the one dressed as a clown, but everyone else is instead, it’s one of the funniest situations of all time.
8. Be a messenger of love if you can, because the world truly needs it!!!
9. If you’re completely distraught as you’re leaving, you’re probably not drunk enough and you probably haven’t sung enough.
10. Hug your friends constantly & Hang out with the silliest people you can find.
11. It’s OK to exist as both the loudest silliest clown and the most shy little scaredy cat. Every year you get a little more brave.

Lastly, here’s the big revelation that I have cried and cried over. I knew my heart had been broken in a way that caused grief around music, but I didn’t realize how bad it was. I was literally telling myself that I just wasn’t that into playing music anymore” but I really just wasn’t that into playing music without the person I loved playing it with the most. I feel like a spell has been broken and all it took was all y’all’s love!
