On this day in 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reunited on Kingfisher Bay jetty at Fraser Island for a walkabout❤️
The Duchess bent down to meet then 85-year-old Noeline Walk, one of the oldest residents on Fraser Island, “She asked me since I was local what I would suggest she have for tea” Mrs Walk recalled, “‘Seafood, of course!’ I told her ‘Oh, I’ll have to give it a try’ she said’”❤️
The couple received several gifts for Baby Sussex, they stopped to chat to to Eliza Vitch, then 10, and Grace Hommerman, then 8, who caught their eyes with a sign that read: ‘Harry and Meghan check us out’, they told the couple how they had held a royal wedding party to celebrate their marriage back in May 2018, “Oh my goodness, how sweet of you!” exclaimed Meghan❤️
The Duke and Duchess also met with hero Harvey Bay paramedics Graeme Cooper and Danielle Kellam who were behind the touching moment when a woman, Joyce, was wheeled on a stretcher to take a last look at the ocean days before her death❤️
The moment came about when the pair picked up the palliative care patient from her home to be taken to hospital, a week earlier, the same paramedic and patient transport officer had been tasked with taking Joyce home from hospital to spend her final days with family, during that trip Joyce, had spoken of her love of the ocean and the romantic memories she had shared with her husband on the beaches of Hervey Bay, the conversation touched them so much, that when they were instructed to take her back to hospital, they decided to take a detour❤️
Before flying to Fiji the next day, Harry and Meghan spent the night at a private property on the Kingfisher Bay Resort, the 4 star resort offers idyllic views, scenic boat trips and walking tours, a host of restaurants and private lodges for guests hoping to enjoy their break privately❤️

On this day in 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at Hervey Bay Airport where they separated with Meghan travelling on a whale watching boat to Fraser Island while Harry undertook solo engagements❤️
Fraser Island lies just off the east coast of Australia, it is the largest sand island in the world, remnants of tall rainforest growing on sand and half the world’s perched freshwater dune lakes are found inland from the beach❤️
Fraser Island’s hardwood trees were used to build the London docks in the 1930s due to their famed toughness, the Butchulla people are the indigenous people of Fraser Island and their traditional name for Fraser Island is K’gari which means paradise❤️
Fraser Island was named K’gari after the beautiful spirit who helped Yindingie, messenger of the great god Beeral, create the land and, as a reward to K’gari for her help, Beeral changed her into an idyllic island with trees, flowers and lakes and put birds, animals and people on the island to keep her company❤️
Captain Cook first sighted the Fraser Island Butchulla people in 1770 and named Indian Head on the eastern beach after them, colonisation by Europeans caused great conflicts as they did not respect their tribal boundaries, social structure or the importance of their environment but, in 2014 an Australian Federal Court granted Native title rights to Fraser Island to the Butchulla people❤️
Prince Harry was greeted with a Welcome to Country Smoking Ceremony and at McKenzies Jetty, met Rangers to learn more about the work involved in the preservation of Fraser Island❤️
The visit was part of the dedication of the site to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, an initiative begun in 2015 as a network of forest conservation programmes throughout the 53 countries of the Commonwealth of Nations❤️
Prince Harry met a group of Butchulla dancers and members of the First Australian community, as Harry prepared to start his speech, a woman in the crowd called out “He’s better looking in person!”, Harry smiled and said “I’ll take that as a compliment, thank you”❤️

On this day in 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Admiralty House for a quick change before travelling to MacArthur Girls High School to see the incredible work by students in human rights, social justice and women’s empowerment❤️
The Duke and Duchess enjoyed a dance performance upon arrival before they met representatives from the school, the engagement at MacArthur Girls High School brought Meghan’s passion for supporting and empowering women and girls to the fore❤️
The couple visited the National Rugby League’s In Harmony programme, which works to unite and empower young people to be advocates of positive change in their communities, talking to a group of teenagers about part-time jobs, Meghan recalled: “My first job when I was 14, I remember taking out the trash, it gives you a good work ethic, right?”❤️
The Duchess told girls: “You guys all remind me so much of myself when I was growing up, I went to an all girls school which was incredibly diverse as well and I think being around such empowered young women, it becomes something that you all just grasp onto to understand your world, it’s made you confident and well-spoken”❤️
“You have an intention set to really do something to change the world and you have to keep it up, it makes me so emotional, you’re doing really, really good work and I’m so happy that we’re here, we give you our full support”❤️
The teenage girls had worked on a project to make boxes for vulnerable women, taking donated supplies to police stations and refuges, they’ve also produced a book for young children teaching them about poverty and being kind to others❤️
Harry spoke of the importance of men playing their part in the fight for equality, “Men can help as well by getting involved, we have to” he said, “We need to get men’s voices involved as soon as possible”❤️
The In League In Harmony program aims to promote social cohesion by addressing issues such as social disengagement, racism, gender inequality and bullying and empowering youth to be agents of change in a bid to create a more cohesive and inclusive society❤️

All the little touches of blue gave this day it’s distinct look but if you look closely you’ll see a cross-stitch of a wedding cake made by the bride, handmade French silk shoes as an ode to Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette (the bride’s favourite), heirloom pearls in a blue Wedgwood dish to match the Adam Room in the @fairmontlaurier where the couple celebrated their union with their favourite people from all over the globe, and two timeless brides framed on their wedding days, the beginning of a legacy of love that carried all the way to this one.

All these details sum up to tell (part of) the story of Alexandra and Alex. We are all infinitely complex and I couldn’t assume to have captured all of their story but I got to document one of the most joyful chapters.
